Hi, I bought Torchlight yesterday on Steam.

I'm a bit lost with the patches, i've read the first page. (and not all the 50 next's of course..)

So, the last patch is the 1.12, okay.

Steam on the updates status page of the game lists the "1.2" update with the same fixes' list of the 1.12 written on the first page of this thread.

And when I launch the game I see V1.11 ...

I tried to relaunch Steam (multiple times) to see if it suggests an update, with no effect. :?: :?: :?:
    Welcome to the forum, Rez.

It's the exact same patch. Just small text errors, but the patch listed as 1.2 online and as 1.11 in the game is actually just 1.12. Go enjoy the game, as you've got the latest version!

    I hope that helps,
    ViC

    Yep, thank you !
  • I have a bug that I found on the Ember Collector quests. Sometimes, the fellow who gives those quests will ask you to find him a piece of "|u" (that's a pipe character and a u) and the quest will be immediately marked complete, and rewarded. It's happened only twice to me. Once, in the main quest, and once in the Vault. I apologize if this is already a known bug.

Heh there are no notes of whats new in the new patch
Actually, there are... In the first post on this thread. (this post)

Nobody have any idea about this though...?

Uhm... What exactly does that mean? I've just downloaded the patch now, going to install it tonight when I get home, but I'm not sure I understand exactly what this will do... Is this by any chance referring to the passive spells such as the defensive and offensive increase skills? :?

I think I've figured it out though... From what I can tell, the skills that increase the Defensive Spells and Offensive Spells by one level seem to affect the spells that you give the pets, but I'm not certain. Anyone else care to confirm?
Life's just another game ... the game play ****, but the graphics are awesome!

spell masteries are the passive skills that all classes have that increase the power of your spells that you can learn (the four slot spells, not your class abilities). Pets inherit those spell masteries, so if you have your pet with the "Fireball" spell, and put points into your Offensive Spell Mastery skill, your pet's Fireball will be more powerful.

There're none! Isn't that great! I've submitted a ticket to them because I can't find a patch, and when I tried to redownload the game, the filename is still Torchlight_12a_ddmfsetup, which I believe is 1.12a.

My ticket is Ticket 2833-8335624, maybe you can submit one too to quicken this process.
  • Here's the reply I got.

    Hi Alex.

As you're well aware, the fixes implemented in the recent 1.12 update could not be distributed as a normal patch with some distributors, due to the speed of the updates implemented by the devs and the circumstances. We updated the game installer to version 1.12, however a standalone patch is not available. As noted by Travis, the game is up to date, using Version 1.12 viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2030

The version we provide is the 1.12B installer. The installer is mislabelled as 12A in the download. This doesn't mean that the version is 1.12A. If you check your settings menu you'll see the Vsync option is present.

Feel free to contact me with any more questions you might have.

Therefore, D2D version IS version 1.12B.

Can anyone confirm with me? From my BuildVer.txt which is located in the Torchlight's directory, it says 17243_200911081503, which I assume means ver17243, date 2009/nov/8th at 15:03 hour.
    So this is 1.12B?

My version in-game says 1.14, but what changed? Was it just the achievements and Steam Cloud support, or were there other updates too? Steam's update notes says version "1.2" was pushed out on November 6th.

vvv I haven't had anything like that happen to me, luckily
  • The steamcloud update has introduced some problems for me. Twice today, while in a dungeon, Torchlight crashed. When I opened the game again the first time, I chose to use Steam's version of my saves. I lost all my progress since the last load. The next time, I chose to use my own versions. When that file loaded, I was missing some of the item drops I had picked up. Finally, I gave the whole thing a rest for the night when Torchlight crashed my computer. After a reboot, I got the message, "Windows has recovered from a serious error."

Has anyone else experienced major problems with the steamcloud update?
