Moving a bone's position in an animation

In 3ds max, I am trying to readjust the positions of a torchlight monster's skeleton bones so they better line up with a mesh I am trying to rig them to. However, I find that when I switch to a different animation, suddenly the bones are reverted back to their old position.

How can I permanently adjust the position of a bone so that it takes effect in all of the animations without going back?
