Bought game through steam. I open the game and TL2 asks for my Runic Games Username/Pass. When I put that in the game says, "This account is not connected to a purchase". How do I link the accounts.

  • It's done here: https://secure.runicgames.com/

Ha. Turns out I created a forum account rather than a game account. I'm psyched that you have sold enough to break the servers 8-)

Where do you create a game account?

Thank you. Didn't realize it was the same link. I wish I would have known there was a different account necessary for the game, not the forum account, and that it could be linked to Steam way ahead of time. :(

I'm playing offline mode right now. How does one import the character over to online when the servers have stabilized?

EDIT: I just read somewhere the answer to my question. Never mind. For those who didn't know how, load your character and choose. :)

  • I like how it says its down but this does not effect your ability to play Internet multiplayer in Torchlight 2. Except you know the part where it DOES. lol

I expected the game to just be Steamworks. Whenever it isn't there is always an unplayable multiplayer on launch day.

It doesn't affect your ability to play, exactly. If you had an account, you can still play.

Are you mentally retarded or just stupid? It completely affects our ability to play, we purchased the game and are completely justified in expecting online play to work.

And it does not send me an activation link to reset my ingame password, not the forums pass but the game pass. So, I wanted to play yesterday and now I cant play until tomorrow the sooner. This is a bad joke, I dont like this. TL2 is a very good game, I played it in single, but I bought it to play in multi, there are too many good single games, I dont need TL2 to play alone, thanks
  • I am glad I got mine to work finally. My account is linked now and works great.....I can play both offline and online now...

If you are on steam to link your steam account to your ruinic account. You do your username and password and then get the comfermation code from steam and the redo it and it should work. I got mine working....

To play your previously saved characters all you have to do is boot up your TL2 and then click resume,Then select internet play and join a game or create one. I finally figured it out.

Oh and you have to use your ruinic account name and password to play it online. (the only important part)

I just registered today, and sorry for necroposting, but i created a runic account ingame in torchlight 2(via steam), thinking it was the same as a runic forums account. ended up making another account just so that I can use the forums. :D

BTW, I already beat the game once on Veteran with 27 deaths on Dual Gunslinger Venomous Hail Outlander. Enjoyed every bit of it, until I hit level 60 on NG+. Now I'm dying almost every other pack of mobs in latter half of act 1 and early act 2.(decided to reroll after dying alot(about 58 total deaths at this point) in Artificer's Sanctum at Level 70 or so) I ended up rerolling a Cannoneer engineer on normal just for an easier NG+ experience.(Veteran's fine on first playthrough, but too hard on NG+, but Normal's too easy on first playthrough).

TL:DR: I hate getting oneshotted by almost everything in Veteran NG+ as a Fragile VH Outlander. It's sad that only The Glavelander/Poison Outlander seems to be viable on harder difficulties for Outlander Class. I just hope that Normal Difficulty NG+ isn't as bad with the One-Shots and 60-110% Player HP Damage per volley. I also hate the ridiculously short uptime of Shadowmantle with such a long cooldown. Next time I play an outlander, it's gonna be a build that doesn't need Shadowmantle to survive, hopefully a shotgun, bow or crossbow build(or maybe the wand/shield Glavelander combo).
  • Getting one shot becomes less of a problem the more experience and knowledge you have of the game. Once you learn what all the enemies do, including which attacks are dangerous and should be avoided, it is not actually that hard to avoid the hardest hitting attacks as long as you are paying attention. The hardest part is simply losing focus since the game is long but danger can strike at any moment. From the point of view of someone with 700 hours in the game, and who has gotten two outlanders to level 60+ in **** Elite (including one level 100), the damage output from enemies seems more or less fair. Obviously there will be some parts that are less fair than others but in a game where it is human vs a lousy ai you have to grant the environment some allowable degree of unfairness or it will be impossible to die which makes the game not very interesting.

Here's a quick list of things you should try not get hit by as an outlander in **** Elite:

All acts: melee. Outlanders should be ranged classes and getting hit by melee enemies that should be limited to very rare mistakes and the occasional charger.

    Act 1 Part 1
    • bear traps
    • more than 1 melee guy
    • Grell's cannonball
    • Large waves of blue projectiles from possessed sturmbeorn
Really there's not much in the first part of act 1 that can one-shot you. It's the first part of the game and it is easy.

    Act 1 Part 2
    • Chillhoof's ice wave
    • The ice elemental's ice wave
    • More than 3-4 ice bats
    • The winter widow's smash.
    • Any smash / stomp attack, actually
    • More than 2-3 chargers
    • The mirka frostbreather's ice breath
    • The mirka caster's star-shaped ground attack
    • More than 2-3 poison bolts from the tentacle casters
    • The exploding tumors tossed by the netherrim plague guys

I could go on but this list is just an illustration to prove a point, which is that once you know what it is that does enough damage to kill you, you have a better chance of avoiding most of it. This game is usually quite fair about making damage somewhat avoidable.

TL;DR: The game is totally playable in **** elite without getting one-shot. The strategy is to know what hits to avoid taking and have enough +HP on gear to survive a single mistake long enough to run away and drink a health potion.
  • The only things hitting me in act 1 are the possessed sturmbeorn(shadowmantle's uptime to cd ratio really slows down the game to the point of boring waiting if i use it every trash pack), bear traps(i can easily avoid them, but choose not to since IT IS only the second area of the game) and chillhoof's ice wave(usually when i'm between him and the way back upstairs, and other times too because there's no obvious indicator of when he's ABOUT to use it).

Besides, the thing killing me nowadays on my Veteran Outlander is Suicide via Venomous Hail on Reflect shield Ogre. Once I cast venomous hail out of quick reaction, there's nothing I can do.

I pretty much gave up my NG+ Veteran Run. I can do Veteran Fine until NG+, but I'd never reuse the Venomous Hail build I had on ****. I've moved over to Normal Mode, and although the Bosses are way too easy, I'm doing it strictly for the NG+ to 100. I'm hoping that NG+ on Normal is a little more forgiving(damage intake wise), but if it's not, then I have another backup plan, this one being a Cannoneer Engineer Build I'm using. I really love the Force Field he has. I should be able to beat normal mode without ever dying until NG+ and haven't died yet so far. I want to get to 100 so bad so I can try out Tarroch's Tomb.
