===============COMMENTS===============

All values listed here are verified by myself in game, current as of v.1.12.5.7 (the Oct. 5th patch). The reason they don't match up with half of the stuff on the Torchlight 2 Armory is because the Torchlight 2 Armor is frequently wrong. Values marked with an asterisk scale with your level.
Trust me, I've checked.

  • Also, I don't suppose we could get someone to sticky this, or post some official equivalent? This information really should be easier to find than fiddling with the console for a couple of hours.
    Trust me, I've checked.
  • You know, what you should do is start the unoffically official Outlander information thread. Perhaps FAQ format? That way, you could link to all of your other threads, and only need to get one thread sticky'd. Good breakdown of the skills for people that have basic mechanic questions!

Bumping your thread, and also posting this:

Is this public knowledge? I've been away for a bit and haven't been stalking the Outlander forums very well.

I hadn't tested it. Minion builds aren't really my thing.

I can tell you that the damage on the Vortex Hex triggers every 0.833 seconds, or 18 times over the course of its 15 second duration. The damage listed on the skill will be about 20% lower than the actual damage per second (after adjusting for Focus and, apparently, minion bonuses).
    Trust me, I've checked.

Bah, this needs a sticky, or we need an FAQ document to reference this.

Bumping this to keep it on the first page. I'll delete older posts as they cycle though and bump it to keep it up where the newbies can see it.

It would be good to provide this link in all of your thread build, makes it easier to just bump your guide thread instead of these. Just a thought there.

No offense-this is awesome-but I don't see why you can't just submit this to the Torchlight2 armory folks or post it over on the Runic Games fansite. I don't really see this as something warranting an official sticky, since Runic probably doesn't have the time to verify that everything you've listed is 100% correct.

Sorry op, I just think it's better off stickied over at RGF, that's all.

Very useful information, the bad thing is these posts are lost in the forums :( And there are many good posts all over here to be missed.
there is no signature yet lol
  • Very good list and it should be kept around near the 'top' so people can find it. One critique/addition I'd say to have is to tell which stats each skill scales with, or perhaps make that a separate section beneath all of the values. I see a lot of these questions still being asked like 'Does skill XXXXXX scale with Strength or Focus?' and it would be very helpful for others to be able to have that information at a glance if they're planning out a build ahead of time. :)

Is leveling up rune vault worth the points? I was thinking of doing a 5/5/5 ratio with rune vault, glaive throw, and either immob shot or stone pact. Or is rune vault really worth all the mana costs later on down the road?

Edit: BTW, does Shadowmantle cost the same mana through all the levels?

Rune Vault's usefulness as an escape skill does not increase as you put more points into it so unless you specifically want to use Rune Vault offensively, it isn't worth any extra points.

How does it compare to the Fire Leap ability? It certainly costs more, but is it better for control or anything?

It could be worth five points for the leech if you've got a weapon with good mana leech on it. Rune Vault through your Brambles and it'll trigger a bunch of hits. The mana cost at 5 ranks is still very low. I wouldn't put more than five ranks into it even if you want to do this; one is all I ever use myself.

I have edited the original post to show the mana cost of Shadowmantle. It does get more expensive as you gain ranks in it.
    Trust me, I've checked.

    *warning! incoming Diablo comparison*

What we really need is an equivalent to the Arreat Summit (http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/) for Diablo2. Not sure if Runic has the time or resources for something like this, but the TL2 armory is simply a mess. Heck, it still has 'bullseye mastery' listed for outlanders, which from what I understand was dropped at beta.

Thanks for crunching all these numbers, Emp. Keep up the good work!

Nope. I'm a dedicated Outlander expert. I hear there are other classes, but I never look at them.

Sure thing. I'll probably show up a lot less for a little while when XCOM comes out, but I'll try to keep this up to date as long as I'm still playing Torchlight 2.

Don't we have a wiki somewhere or something?
I only have experience on Elite, so if I make some claim that seems completely bizarre to you, it may be because I've never used a lower setting.
