Im playing a level 34 Engineer Summoner, on my first run through the game on veteran difficulty. Im trying to find good gear for new characters on veteran and elite, but there is so Little storage Space. My questions:

1. Should i try to collect any sets in the game (they take up much storage)? If yes, what are some good (best) low, mid and high level sets (any class)?

2. Im transmuting all my gems in bloods and voids for Health/mana regen/leech. Should i go for other types of gems as well?

3. I use Forcefield+Dynamo on my summoner, but i getting stressed by the number of times i have to cast the two skills every minute. Is Bulwark+Aegis an alternative viable on veteran?

    1. See the link to stashninja in my sig.

    2. For a character in-progress, that sounds about right. If you were using your weapon as a damage source, I'd put a fire/elec gem in it. Endgame socketing revolves around unique grade socketables.

    3. Forcefield+Dynamo is definitely the superior choice of the two. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but you more serious problem is "summoner." You can probably manage in veteran, but it's just never going to be one of the most powerful builds.
Torchlight 2 Rapid Respec - Putting the "hack" in "hack-n-slash"
StashNinja - INFINITE Stash for Torchlight 2
NullMod - Play together in the same multiplayer game with different mods!
  • Thanks for the reply.

Im not using mods for my first playthrough, but i will look into stashninja later.

Why fire/elec gems and not ice/poison? Just curious...

Well, you're right about summoners damage output. Im level 53 now and it's really starting to show. Guess it's okay for a first farming class that not gear dependant though...

Elec/Fire are amped up by the Engineer's "Fire and Spark" skill, whereas the class has no enhancements for poison or ice. It's simply more efficient. Outlanders benefit more from poison, Zerkers from ice.

A summoner is actually very gear-dependent. You need gear with added pet and minion damage/life/speed.
  • geist is right, summoning require items and spells to boost your minions
and Chthon is kinda right too altough if you know what you are doing AND have all the right items it can be powerful, I've seen it in elite HC and it definitely worked for the engineer I was playing with

I'm not a pro summoner but I have a few tips
    - most unique sets are useless in general, as a summoner you may want to try and get this one http://torchlight-tidbi.orgfree.com/eng ... =U_OBSCURE
    - I love cast speed so I would suggest getting a sentinel set you can buy from minhead, +33%cast speed will also speed up the summoning animations http://torchlight-tidbi.orgfree.com/eng ... m=SENTINAL
    - you want to equip anything boosting your pet damage there are a few trinkets for each class doing that

    2. Im transmuting all my gems in bloods and voids for Health/mana regen/leech. Should i go for other types of gems as well?
    - good socketables for you : http://torchlight-tidbi.orgfree.com/eng ... yeofkidrik http://torchlight-tidbi.orgfree.com/eng ... 2_skull019
kidrik you can farm in frosted hills joskin not so easy to get but they drop in the dwarf part of act4

    3. I use Forcefield+Dynamo on my summoner, but i getting stressed by the number of times i have to cast the two skills every minute. Is Bulwark+Aegis an alternative viable on veteran?
I play elite, forcefield is only good if you cast it with a filled charge bar if you don't it will last 1 attack, so you really have to wait until you cast forcefield...and avoid skills that cost charge
bulwark and aegis are way weaker than forcefield at high level, physical armor is near useless at high level, in elite ennemies do 10-20-30-40k attacks so your 2000 physical armor is nothing to them
if you want a useful physical armor you should play berzerker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRA6YgEPYvU 30-90'000 physical armor now that's useful

If you really want to play a summoner what you want is to learn the skeleton 1,2,3,4,5,6 spells
skeleton I : you can summon 3 skeletons at the same time
    skeleton II : 4
learn skeleton I+II = 7 skeletons at the same time, and they do pack a punch
only you can do this not your pet and it's the only summon spell that you can "stack" like that
I tried it but it's not for me as you spend most of your time summoning stuff (maybe mouse/keyboard macros would help)
