What is Hob?
Hob is a solo adventure game filled with mystery. Players explore a seemingly mechanical open world, unlocking environmental puzzles and gaining combat and traversal skills. As their mastery increases in the world, their purpose and identity unfolds. Hob is inspired by games like: Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and Zelda.
What does the name Hob mean?
This is for the player to find out.
Where does it take place?
Hob is set on a world that is lush and teeming with life, and powered by a labyrinth of mechanical elements below. It is a strange and beautiful land and you are the only one with the awareness to fix it.
Is there a story?
There’s a wordless narrative, presented without text or dialogue. The story is revealed as you explore the planet and interact with the strange lifeforms that inhabit it.
What are the main features?
Transform the world by solving puzzles and repairing the planet. The landscape will change before your eyes, opening new areas to uncover and explore.
Grapple, Punch, and Warp through the world! Use your mechanical glove-arm abilities for traversal as well as combat.
Adventure in an open world, explore ruins, befriend sprites, and battle the rogue creatures that threaten their extinction.
What is the release date for Hob?
Coming in 2017.
What platforms are supported?
PS4 and PC (Windows).
Will there be a physical disc release?
No plans yet!
How many hours of gameplay?
This is changing as we work on the game.
Replayability and Mods?
The game is about exploration. Players may not discover everything their first time around and want to play through again to learn more about the world and their purpose in it.
We love the Torchlight modding community, but Hob is a much different game. It's a hand-crafted experience not meant for mods.
What engine does the game use?
It’s the same engine that Torchlight and Torchlight II use – a highly customized version of Ogre3D.
Will Hob enter the Steam Early Access program?
Nope. Hob will be released as a finished game later this year.
