[BUG] Controller issue

MasatoMasato Posts: 16 ✭✭

I experienced a weird issue with the controller.
When I started the game I could move around my toon with the analog stick. at a certain point (iirc either when i got the sword or the glove) I suddenly could only move the toon around with the d-pad. Reboot didn't help. In the menu both (analog stick & d-pad) working - a bit fast, but they are working.
With d-pad the controls are quite unprecice.

I have a PC with a Logitech F710 Wireless Rumble Gamepad.

OK, I sent the Save Game

If I start a new game the controls stay at the d-pad.

  • This sounds like an issue with the configuration of the controller. Try adjusting your settings there. If anyone else is having controller issues with ones other than the XB1 or XB360 controllers on PC, please let me know.

For those with PS4 controllers, see: https://support.runicgames.com/kb/articles/how-to-use-a-dualshock-controller-with-hob-on-pc

My controller is not working at all on Hob, either buttons or axis.

It's a Saitek P990 and it works fine on other games. If you have any clue let me know ;)

@Octom I'd recommend contacting the manufacturer of the controller. You might have to run it through some kind of third party app. We basically just support the Xbox Controller on PC. You can get it to work with a PS4 controller with the DS4Windows app.

Ok so actually it's Hob who doesn't support standard USB controllers and requires a third party app for the controller. I don't think there is this kind of software for my controller so I guess I'm stuck.

I heard about a soft who allows to simulate controller as keyboard inputs, I will give it a try and if it's not working I will ask for a refund on Steam.

    Thanks for your time ;)

I don't know if the support still exists, because I didn't get any reaction after the announce of runic games end :(
I post here my last mail to them, maybe someone else can help.

    Hello,

At the first start of Hob I could use the analog controller I noticed the the 2nd patch was installed while playing (not the 600 MB, but the first of the ~15 MB-patches). Later the vibration ceased to work too. (I have no idea at wich point, I noticed it when it was active again)
in the game main menu analog stick and d-pad are working.

The whole thing turns out to be more difficult:
My controller can switch between directInput and XInput
in XInput-Mode its recognized as "XBox 360 Gamepad" and in DirectInput-Mode its recognized as "generic XInput Controller" (don't ask).

I worked with the contoller-setting like descibed:

    • I remepped the D-Pad and the Analog-Stick to each other
Result: I could control my toon with the analog-stick, but only in
8 directions and the lock-on didn't work (yes this was remapped too)

    • I switched to DirectInput-Mode and tried this one.
Result: Hob completely ignored the the controller now.

In Steam big picture mode I can use the controller in both modes perfectly. Even the "controller keyboard" works. In the general controller settings both modes are correctly mapped.

    In the Game-Overlay:

    • XInput-Mode: I have keyboard and Controller settings and I can
      navigate with the controller

    • DirectInput-Mode: I don't have keyboard and Controller settings but
I can navigate with the controller.

I searched in the internet and found this
    http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/11/558749824980730120/
    which led to this:
    http://steamcommunity.com/app/212480/discussions/0/864958451389764349/

    I performed the procedure:

    • Now I have vibration ingame again.
    • Now I have in DirectInput-Mode Controller configuration but if i try
to enter them I get a message that the controller settings for this
game preventing this. The controller is still ignored by the game.

    • still just the d-pad for moving around available.

    honorable mentions:

    • controller settings in steam are quite a German/English-mess. sigh
    • 5 Hobs were bravely involved in testing
    • I found 2 ways to blast steam away quite savely.
    • I improved my fighting skills with the d-pad and without lock-on
    • I improved my skill in switching quickly between contoller and
      mouse/keaboard.

    Greetings
