-Where should i be dumping my stat points?
Depends on difficulty level. 2 strength 3 defense on very hard, 3s/2d on normal. Maybe one in magic every now and then
so you can equip certain unique items.
-Like whats the best tree to put my skill points into? Or do i put points across the trees?
Across all 3 trees. I like to put points in my passive skills first (armor/weapon mastery) and only one point in any offensive skill (slash, titan stomp) I plan on using until I get Spectral Echo and/or Devastate. MAX FROST SHIELD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I continue to to put points in passive skills such as Critical Hits, Treasure Hunter and Barter while keeping my offensive skill as low as I can tolerate (relying on gear). Then I max spectral echo or deviate.
-Dual wielding versus two handers.
Polearms don't yield 2x dps and you lose a equipment slot for bonuses.
-Shield and block information.
Look for:
+X% chance to block
X% chance to reflect X% missile damage.
+defense
+armor
+resists
-Gear.
+armor
+defanse
+strength
+crit
+crit damage
+resists
-Gems.
Very very useful.
+defense, +strength, +fire, +poison for armor
+damage, +ice, +electric for weapons.
Importance of Weapon speed?
Very important for skills like Spectral Echo, not at all for skills like devastate. Also faster weapons gain more dps from enchanting than slower weapons (the enchanter doesn't care if the weapon is fast or slow, and +25 damage adds more dps on a fast weapon because that 25 damage is being applied more often).
-Scrolls.
Whatever you like. Elemental protection is good, haste, dervish..
-Enchanting.
Will make your purple rares more powerful than your best uniques and you uniques insane. It costs next to nothing to enchant rare/magic items and is very expensive for uniques. The more you enchant the more the price goes up, and the more your chance of clearing the item of all bonuses goes up.
Also gamble for uniques. A good tip is to put an item with a socket into your pets inventory, then when you mouse over the items in the gamblers inventory if the socket on the item in your pets inventory lights up, you know the gamblers item has a socket. If it also has 2 or 3 requirements like strength and defense odds are it is a unique item.
Oh, and fish. You can find lots of good stuff, just not in the town.
