Best fish or spells for your pet

I have finished the game already but I find my pet nearly useless in combat

i usually have Frost as one of the spells for my pet

Summon [Insert Minion Name Here] VI and Heal Self VI are good for spells, thats what i use and he rarely flees on Hard difficulty. As for fish, go with the fish that transform him into Elementals. I swear these things are overpowered, and thankfully you can have your pet become one .

This reply is a little late, but I've had great success with giving my pet a Web spell. He runs up to everyone and webs them, and then I can pick them off from a distance. It's great!
