Thanks for the kind welcome, and all the hard work! In a world where most developers are just trying to push their products out as quickly as possible, it's refreshing, to say the least, to see your team more focused on delivering a truly great game!

I know I'll be picking up several copies, myself, upon release!

It's ok Travis, you guys really don't have to be sorry. I love your game so much that I got it on Steam + Xbox Live. I will keep on playing Torchlight until the 2nd one comes out and I have no problem with that at all.

You made me love PC gaming again in a time where I wanted to give it all up.

Please take all the time you need. I think I speak for everyone here when I say that we are patient when it comes down to Torchlight.

Long Live Runic Games!

Hey staff,

I just found out about your company about a week ago. (searching for alternatives for diablo 3) And I have to say you guys really impressed me!
You really pushed out a good game like torchlight 1 in just 11 months with a small staff! WOW blows my mind. And besides that your dedication to us gamers
is second to none in this industry, Alot of the bigger companies can learn alot from you guys. I like the approach you guys are taking with the sequel take your time be happy and proud of the product you make. I like in an earlier post where one of you stated that your motivation is not making money, But producing a solid game that you can pat yourself on the back for. Your team just seems so humble and i just can't believe it. Keep on trucking you guys are doing a fantastic job. And 20 bucks are you kidding me :) just great! Now I can afford to buy two copies right at launch, so my wife and I can enjoy co-op together! And please keep this same attitude with your future endevors, I see you guys getting very big very soon. Stick to your roots Torchlight 1 is a great game but you had me sold with your down to earth outlook and attitude I just can't say enough about it!! I am more than happy to give my hard earned money to your team for all your hard work, and fan appreciation.

I been reading the posts on here and not clear on release dates or betas, I have a pre-order on steam, but was curious as how we can apply for a BETA for this wonderfull game? And I was wondering if there is a release date soon, thanks ahead of time. I would love to participate in a Beta.

Thanks, TGA

Hey vmatioli, welcome to the forums. Runic have stated many times in the past that it would be impossible for the to send out beta invites to everyone who preordered due to their system not being able to handle the sheer amount of people logging into the matchmaking server, and because Valve will not give them the email addresses of everyone who preordered. This is a good thing! since it means Valve is protecting your privacy.

The beta was only meant to be a really quick network test. That being said, Runic has received a ton of really great feedback but at some point, they need to shut the beta down and get to work on the game. Seeing as much of the game is going to change, some of it drastically, it wouldn't be fair to their customers if they let people get used to playing a product that in no way represents the final release.

Don't worry tho, the game will be out very soon ^_^

Hey there, I came across Torchlight 1 (and 2 for that matter) in an attempt to find something "Diablo 3"ish that my old computer can run. And I must say I am loving what you guys are doing / have done! Keep up the good work!

doesn't matter how long it takes to finish this incredible game, just let dev's do their job ;) there's still enough time to play TL1 (yet again) :D

Yes, Valve does have an opt-in(and I guess default for some games now) beta option. e.g. I know that Skyrim has that for their patches, and Krater and Endless Space are pre-order/beta play now games, so there are three off the top of my head.

If pre-orders alone would swamp their system I wonder what they plan to do on release day... as there'll also likely be brand new purchases as well as all the pre-orders flooding in, or so one might hope...

One has to assume that they conducted the beta TEST as stated to gather data on some of the functions of the game that would probably need additional development work/polishing. Having gathered the data that they needed from the TEST, they stopped it, because after all it isn't really the release version yet. They plan to change it some.

Oh, I'm sorry. Were you under the impression that they had run the beta so you could play the game early, and not for development reasons? Oops! Seems they told the truth about what they were doing.

As far as I know, the issue was with too many people downloading the beta client off of Runic's private server at a time. The actual retail game will be distributed via Perfect World and/or Steam.

Oh I'm sorry, but you seem to miss that the point of a beta is that it is indeedy 100% contentwise COMPLETE and meant to be checked/played to find any(or as many as possible) remaining bugs and any tweaks that might be needed BEFORE release, and you know it seems to me that the more people that actually play the beta the better the chance that the "gold" version will be of being good.

i.e. no reason for you to be an a-s when you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
