Weapon Booster V [WEAPONS/SHIELDS] - V.1

This mod does two things:
1) makes it possible for more items to spawn as rare.
2) adds some weapons (and shields) to the game.

In standard Torchlight, any specific weapon or shield that's not unique can appear either as normal (white) or magic (green), or rare (blue). This effectively means that some weapons aren't really viable at some point. I thought this was kind of too bad, as it limits your options in terms of visual appearance.
I mean, I might really like, say, the Warsword. However, I've never used one since it can only spawn as normal or magic, and by the time it starts showing up I'm already decked out in rares and uniques, so it's simply inferior.
As such, this mod makes it possible for all weapons and shields that could otherwise only spawn as normal or magic to spawn as rare as well.

Then, the added weapons. Basically I've made weapons using models from the game that either went unused in standard Torchlight, or were not normally accessible to the player - such as say the Zealot Polearm or the Tu'Tara weapons.
This adds 28 weapons with a distinct appearance to the game, plus a few recolours I made for flavour *shrug*
You'll notice that quite a few of them are crossbows, but there's a reason for that. For some reason there aren't many different crossbows in Torchlight, and there are actually no unique crossbows at all. In the end, only seven models for crossbows were used, while there are 18(!) folders with crossbow data in the models folder. So yeah, that's eleven crossbow types for me to use right there ;)

Oh, and there's an icon sheet with 14 icons that I made. Some of the models did not have an icon associated with them anywhere in the data, it seems, so I had to fashion some myself, which was an interesting process. Though they turned out decent in the end, I feel.

The updated version adds an unused weapon previously left out, icons for said weapon and its variations, and makes crossbows more common. Crossbows are fairly rare in standard Torchlight, and when most of these unused weapons are crossbows, I'd like to actually get to see them :P

A note to players of the Mac version of Torchlight: this mod will NOT function properly for you. For some reason, the Mac version has issues with imageset files, and, well, this mod uses an imageset file.

I'll see about it tomorrow. Slapping together a bunch of screenshots doesn't take that much time, I guess, and I have a character I spawned all the stuff on already >_>

i have a lvl 40 toon right now. if i install your mod will they eventually appear to my character? or will it show up for only newly created toons after install? thx

They should appear just fine without having to restart. They might not appear immediately for sale in town as long as the vendors haven't refreshed their stock yet, but that should resolve itself when the game decides it's time for them to switch up their goods :)

Also, the mod contains both standard and epic versions of all included weapons. Reason I say this is that at your level you probably won't run into the normal versions unless you go back to a lower-level area, but you will encounter the epic versions.

Added a note to the opening post, mentioning that this mod will not function properly on the Mac version of Torchlight. For those who are unaware, the Mac version seems to have a dislike of imageset files, and, well, this mod includes an imageset file ;)

Mod has been updated. Probably won't be updated anymore unless there's a huge flaw or something, since there's really not much more to do with it.

Anyway, changes.

- The Demoncrown Mace is no longer called a Demoncrown Mave >_> <_<
- Corrected requirements on some of the added weapons.
- Made the icons a tad brighter, they were a little dark.
- Made crossbows more common. Crossbows are fairly rare in standard Torchlight, which is annoying enough as it is if you happen to like them. But when a lot of these unused weapons are crossbows, it would be nice if they actually dropped once in a while ;)
- Added the Spectral Blade weapon. This is an unused weapon that I previously purposely excluded from this mod, because I wanted to have a certain type of Tu'Tara in the Champions Mod to use it ;) So now, those weird polearms the Tu'Tara Dreamreavers wield are available to the player as well. Icons for this weapon were also added.

Added pictures to the download page on RGF. They're pics of all the icons the weapons use - seemed to be the best way to give an impression of all the weapons while presenting it in as compact a way as possible.
One is of the icons that were available in the game's data for the unused weapons, the other contains all the icons I made for all those that did not have an icon available already.

Been using this for awhile, like all your mods. It's great stuff. My destroyer is pretty sweet rocking out his Zealot Glaive.

I downloaded this mod of yours via Torchleech a couple of days ago, but since TL database isn't up-to-date yet, the Demoncrown Mace was still a "Mave". I really hope Webbstre and his henchmen will soon update the repository. :)

Another thing. I am using Better Random Quest Rewards mod, and Hatch offered me a crossbow named "Headbanger" something, with a whopping 1000+ DPS. I didn't accept the quest because I have no use for ranged weapons with my pure melee Vanquisher, but I searched Torchlight Armory and didn't spot any crossbow with that kind of damage. Even nearly. So I guess the crossbow in question was one of those unlocked by this mod of yours; those that were left out of the original game. I really should have picked up that quest, though. Who knows when I will see that weapon again... :(

I can assure you there's nothing in here called a "Headbanger" anything ;)
There's no variation of the terminology "bang," nor "head." The closest to that in crossbows off the top of my head is the Hellslinger Crossbow.
There's a Set helm in standard Torchlight called Valcone's Head Banger, though >_> <_<

As for the Torchleech situation, I'd love for them to update more frequently, but until then I can only suggest grabbing the current version of this mod directly from RGF.

Damn. I can't have been that drunk when I played Torchlight the last time and was offered the crossbow... 8-) But I am still 95% certain that "Headbanger" was part of it's name. Did I stumble upon an Unique nobody else has found? It was a crossbow, and it had a 1000+ DPS, trust me.

I am really pissed, because I didn't take a screen capture of the stats of that item. :evil: But I guess you know what you are talking about. It is also possible that the crossbow in question was an epic version of a Rare instead of an Unique, but it still had well above 1000 DPS. I won't sleep until I have found it again...

Anyway, thanks for this mod. Much appreciated. :)
