Hi Raging! I don't know of anyone using the Valkyrie II for VHHC. It should be doable though - right now, the only differences between her and a standard destroyer are her slightly lower strength and higher speed (well, and that difference in her Seismic Burst skill that I found, which I'm still testing - will get back to you on that)

It is already on TL. I installed it onto my pc using TL yesturday (Thurs 25th Nov).

Hey thanks so much Wolfways!

I was supposed to be helping to keep TLeech updated (Webbstre over at RGF asked for volunteers :) ). We were supposed to get the training for that, but it stalled somehow.

I'll PM you about this, because I'm still interested to help out :) !

Version 0.3 is, current version is 1.0, it isn't.

So I'm still going to see about getting my mods onto TLeech - will update as soon as I have anything :)

Thanks Phanjam, currently I have Valk II disabled while I finish work on a few other characters through VHHC, but I went ahead and patched the skill.

Valkyrie II Mod, Version 2.0 Released

Hi All! I have uploaded version 2.0 of the Valkyrie II mod on RGF (please follow the DL links from the OP).

My development direction for this mod has kinda settled-down to just refinements to make the mod more "professional" like :P .

The intent of the mod - to provide a female player that can be built and played as a tank character - is unchanged from when Chazyl first released the YAGM gender mod, on which this Valkyrie II is so heavily based.

Latest refinements in this version 2.0 are:

    1) Incorporates the bug-fix of the Spectral Echo skill (thanks to RagingGamer for reporting the bug);

    2) Incorporates SorrySoldOut's excellent re-textures of the Vanquisher armors (with minor modifications) as the default armor textures;

    3) Increases the Valkyrie's size to about 20% larger than a standard Vanquisher (she's a tank right?);

    4) Uses the Seismic Burst skill as revised by Chazyl. Previous versions were still using the un-modified Seismic Burst skill of the Destroyer. Chazyl's version uses a different animation;

    5) Incorporates one of my Wolf pet options to provide a third pet option, the Dire Wolf, in the character creation screen;

    6) Has some fixes in the character intro graphics.
I've played it quite a lot already and it's been stable. But please let me know if you encounter any problems or want to make any suggestions :D

Nice touch, are the weapons scaling to this new size factor? I really need to play this mod....

Conflicts with the Gender Mod? No option to create a Valkyrie given on creation screen with this mod installed and active. I prefer not deactivating the Gender Mod since I have some characters in use that rely on it.

Okay after messing around I have some issues you might want to know about, or that you can explain perhaps:

1. I deactivate Gender Mod.
2. I activate Valk 2 mod.
3. I load game and create a Valkyrie. Enter game, exit game.
4. I reactive Gender Mod.
5. Start game, find new Valkyrie on start screen.
6. Select a gender modded character, game crashes.
7. Start game, delete Valkyrie character.
8. Select gender modded character, game crashes.
9. Deactivate Valkyrie mod.
10. Start game, Valkyrie character is on start screen HOWEVER - and remember she was deleted...
11. She has the Vanquisher model, enter game, she has Valkyrie skill set, etc.

However, Valkyrie Mod is deactivated...I can, though, use that character AND still use gender modded characters. It seems the scaled model is conflicting somehow. I doubt this affects anyone other than gender mod user? I did NOT try a plain Vanquisher character while mod was activated, perhaps it's a general conflict with the Vanquisher model?

This is the gender mod I am using.

Okay I troubleshot it down, no conflict with the base Vanquisher. The conflict that is causing the crash exists between this mod and the Gender Mod I linked.

EDIT:
Sigreth's GenderModV1 will definitely conflict with the Valkyrie II mod, because they both use the unit name "valkyrie" which is like the cornerstone of any class.

Hey Phanjam

I really want to try your mod since it seens to be exactly what I'm looking for, but every time I come to the Character Creation screen, I select the Valkyrie icon and the game crashes, despite clearing the .adm caches.

In attempt to get it working (since I reallllly wanted to try it) I went hunting through the .dat files, did a compare to genmod (which IS working - and I'm careful not to run both at once, so it's not a mod conflict) and slowly went through every step of the charactercreate.layout then the valkyrie.dat to try and figure out what's wrong.

I've finally concluded that it's the valkyrie.mesh/.skeleton file that's causing the issue. When I either redirect to the vanilla vanquisher mesh, or replace the files with a renamed vanquisher mesh everything works fine.

First of all, I was wondering how much is your valkyrie mesh is customized (ie. how much am I missing out on to find out if would be it be acceptable to me to use the default vanquisher mesh) and whether you (or anyone else) have come across this problem before - and if so, how to fix it.

I'm currently running Torchlight 1.2 on Windows 7.

I came away with the same conclusion, using less of a scientific approach. Created the Valk 2 character, deactivated the Valk 2 mod which allowed me to access my Gen Mod females with no crashing, and access to the new Valk 2 character that defaulted to using the standard Vanq model.

Hi Texaboose and Raging!

First of all, thanks very much for not just giving up on getting this mod working :) !

Played around with both your observations and I believe I have a solution. I made a version of the Valkyrie II mod designed to work with the Gender Mod v1 rather than replace it (which was my first, and unsuccessful, angle of attack). You can download the special mod version from this link

I ran these mods together myself, as follows:

1) Installed Gender Mod v1 with no other custom classes present. Created 3 working characters: Valkyrie, Executioner and Enchanter.

2) Did a cache clear then installed this special mod making sure it loads BEFORE the Gender Mod v1. The previously created Valkyrie was selectable and working AND was performing as per the Valkyrie II's design (BIG sigh of relief).

3) Checked the playability of the other 2 previously created characters, and they were fine.

Now these were all freshly created characters; it's possible that GMV1 characters already at higher levels may have problems.

Please do give it a try, 'cos I'd really like you guys to have a hassle-free experience using the Valkyrie II !

There are still issues with this mod and gender mod, but it no longer crashes. The current issue is with this mod and gender mod loaded you can't create a gender mod character. You can create the basic chaaracters and the Valk.

@Raging - Oh I see what you mean! The character creation screen has gone back to displaying only the standard classes plus the Valkyrie II. That may just be a screen layout issue (easily fixed) and not an actual inability to create the Gender Mod characters. Will make/send a patch...

No - but on the flip side I've uninstall the gender mod in favor of yours - not wanting to go through the pain of rejoining all the 'valkyrie' refences with sometime else. Clearing the cache has resolved any residing problems lingering from that.

In the last day, and relying on you mod as a template and a source of inspiration, I've learnt a fair bit of what's involved in making a class mod and am able to trace through the steps in getting one working and editing to get things to I like.

I've currently got in place your valkyrie II, Udinbak's Banshee class and Dusho's Lady Knight. I've quickly whipped up a priority 0 'character addition' "mod" that just holds the charactercreate.layout file so I can add classes easily. The final thing I'm struggling with is creating a seperate character selection icon for the Banshee class (Udinbak's just using the default vanquisher icon). I've got the logo's .png set up with help from Photoshop, with the relavant .imageset to refence the image and updated the charactercreate.layout to reference the new logos- but it's not showing. Not your problem, though, and should post a new help me thread :)
