So I went ahead and put together a little class I like to call "The Vindicator"
This is very much a battling class that will get into the fight and be up close and personal with the mobs of Torchlight. With this class, I tried to have a little fun with the skills, and worked on making some improvements to the buff system that really have an impact on how the class is played.
The core of this is the "Battle Frenzy" mechanic, which enables the Vindicator to grow stronger while staying in a fight longer, by having each weapon hit being able to cause a buff to her later attacks.
The second to this is the idea of buffs that provide major benefits to you with no duration, but drain your mana over time when enabled.
And to support the hybrid theme between casting and melee, there are also a pair of "trances" that you can select between, which either enable you to be a caster (the Spirit Trance) or a front line rage-style attacker (the Battle Trance)
