:P I'm not ashamed to admit that I like the skimpy new Assassin skin verrrry much :P

These are very nice! I'll have to find out some way to incorporate them into the mod somehow.

I'll admit that the new starter clothes were done in less than a minute, so they will probably get updated a little. And those hotpants from the valk update! Those are too good to pass up, but I fear they wont fit the current set too well. I may snag them for the custom armors I'm making.

...once I get the quest giver working right, anyway. :(

made another armor =)

this one might work with the Spiked set (tho that skull thingy gets in the way) or just used as a default armor.

also, I tried to edit the body mesh (using blender) and fix that little polygon near the tail that sort of skew the textures on some sets, but I have no idea how exactly to save it. the script either crash or doesn't save it as the correct format. tho I never tried editing mesh files before (im quite the rookie at using blender).

That's a nice camisole! And to be honest, the dragon, serpent, heavy plate, transmuter, and spiked sets are the only ones that have that "belt buckle" feature on the chest. And of those, the spiked is the only one with a different "buckle". The rest of the armors are basically the same mesh for the chest portion.

And don't feel bad about blender. I can't even get meshes imported without getting script errors that stop my progress.

Oh, and I decided to put the lighter valk armor on the Valkyrie Torso, since its the lightly armored one, anyway. For those that are impatient: simply save the new armor as "zealot_valkyrie_chest_light.png" (or whatever you want to call it) then change the wardrobe file to match.

uh, just modify and add some highlights on the skin texture? was really all I did. also adding some faint highlights on the illum.png file can help too but that also show on clothes/armor.



Edit:
I also managed to export the mesh file for the zealot in the correct format but it only come out as 84kb instead of 187kb as the original and crashes the game if I try to use it.

Tbh, it'd be nice if once there's a good load of zealot skin options for each armour set the creators (or anyone, really), could collect them all together, changing filenames slightly (adding a 1/2/3/etc on the end would do) so that they can all be thrown in 1 folder and it's still obvious which armour set they're for (or at least, can be used for); Add in a few image files for in-game screenshots for the sets and then people could just look through them and pick and mix for zealot-based classes; a small .txt readme file could include what all the actual filenames should be for each armour set (including starting) for an active mod/the general filepath they should be in, and maybe even which armour meshes are basically the same, allowing the textures to be interchangable for the sake of people that aren't familiar with the modding process (or just what the meshes actually look like in my case :L never been good with the graphics stuff).

As is there's loads of good zealot skins for classes like this one, but very few of them are actually downloadable (/a texture image copyable to create the file) as far as I can tell; there's too many for the limited number of default item set graphics, and everyone has different preferences, so it'd be nice if they could get grouped together somewhere and updated for new ones occasionally. Of course, whether or not someone (or even a group of people) are willing and have the time to do and keep it updated that is another question entirely.
Alternatively creators could just upload entire packs of their armour textures separately I suppose, would probably be a lot less effort, and provided there's some sort of list all the packs appear in (whether that be a random directory thread, a specific mod site like rgf, or whatever) it'd still be almost as convenient. I imagine a lot of people are still experimenting with it at this point though, seen as I seem to see quite a lot of them posted on the forums without the correlating texture images nor download links, I should be more patient and wait for them to finish playing around first really :P.

PS: I really need to try that updated version, minimal free time ftl >_<

Well, to be honest most of what has been done so far is making actual armor graphics instead of placeholders, its not until spectre900 started that we actually had different armor graphics.

Mesh side:

Chest Armor
regular: starter, assassin, buckled, chain, gunslinger, heavy leather, leather, plate, spiked, and valkyrie
belt buckle: dragon, heavy plate, serpent, and transmuter
skull: spiked

Boots
all but dragon, shadow, valkyrie, and starting boots (its uses none, really) use the same mesh

Shoulders
all are unique

Gloves
gunslinger, heavy leather, leather, starting all match
assassin and shadow match

i gave it some minor skin enhancements, but what ive put more effort onto was enhancing the facial area, i kinda like my vindie to look more devilish :twisted: modified the illum file a lil bit too give it a darker glow on the eyes. so what'cha guys think? :)

I see you guys have been up to more Vindicator goodness with some cool new outfits and skins. Nice work to all of you, especially spectre's additions. 8-)

I swear, if it weren't for the claws on the hands and feet, I'd definitely hook up with her... :P

Also, I like Ouroboros' idea of rounding up all the outfit mods into a single folder so folks could pick and choose whatever they wanted for their Vindicators to wear.

Got off my ass and updated! Huzzah! (but before more armor skins were added, boo!)

Starting a new vindicator will award you 2 new randomly enchanted swords to play with.
Vasman will give something better than that crappy map for his first quest
and new uniques will be found by those lucky enough to have them drop

Miser's Ring (MiserRing1) - reduce vendor costs 20%
Band of Blackhand (BlackhandRing1) - 40-45 resist all
Mixologist's belt (a Zealot Sash) - massive increase in potion effectiveness
Schola's Insight (Zealot Crest) - increased damage, increased crit, increased crit damage!
Cute Shirt (a Zealot Breastplate) - percent damage reduction and added resists
Kastel's Fiery Grip (KastelsGrip) - sets guys on fire! also attack/cast faster
Jolomor's Treads (JolomorBoots) - faster run speed


Also, I just want to point out that I don't plan on changing the base skin, since I would also need to edit the starting boots and the 5 helms that show the forehead if the color changes.

Holy sh.x.!! thx for the update man, i will try it inmediately when i can!And now that i know how to model new weapons into the game, i will make some of them specially dedicated to the Vindicator :p (in a close future, not now.. ).

About the skins, it is ok, i thing im not the only one who thinks, the base skins that the vindy have right now is awesome, as i said, no mattter wat clothes the vindicator wears, she will always be .. erm, good looking :o

Heya. I found the Vindicator not too long ago and have been playing with it since. I'm loving it, BTW, so thanks. :D

That said, I've run across some issues in the latest version, 1.7b.

#1 : CRASH BUG : Dragonscale Shoulders/Plates
Some of the Dragonscale pieces are missing a proper CRLF line termination sequence on the last line of the Vindicator's [WARDROBE] element before the closing tag, they only have the carriage-return. Torchlight expects a full CRLF and so reads the affected lines in with the closing tag conjoined to the property. Ogre craps itself because it, obviously, can't load the resource from the broken path.

Similar to #1, it's improper line termination again, except the last property here is the icon not the mesh, so we only lose the icon rather than crashing.

  • Epic Thickened Gryphon Skin Gloves (epicv Gryphon Vambrace)
    [CLASS]Vindicator\media\units\items\itemstier2\gloves\epicv_gloves_unique_11c.dat
Also, and I don't know if this is a bug or not, but unlike most of the other items in the series, these gloves are based on the Dragon armor type rather than the Assassin armor type. So, maybe that's wrong as well?


#3 : MISHMASH ARMOR : Zoromun's Ideal (Tier 1 & 2)
Another armor mishmash between the Dragon and the Assassin armor types. I don't know if that was intentional or not.

Affected files:
  • Many of them across both the tier 1 and tier 2 sets.
    d_*_unique_11c.dat & epicd_*_unique_11c.dat

This has been an issue that has plagued me for some time, because I save all files with the proper carriage-returns, but TL will load and change them randomly. In fact, part of my routine for creating new files is to parse them and insure that all the carriage-returns are the proper format. Also annoying is the fact that some files don't care if they use proper CRLFs, and run fine even if they are wrong.

Most of the changes are intentional. Most sets have a lighter and heavier version in TL, and I was doing some changing between them so it wasn't just pure stats. A lot of the armor was generically similar until dragon armor was added in, so some meshes got switched to liven it up, but most sets should be made to go together (or at least look good) when worn.

Hey, hey, I'm back!

Well, I have a good reason. Diablo 3 is all the rage now, which means TL2 is almost there, so I figured I'd go and play some more TL1 for old time sake.

Took a bit of tinkering to get things loaded right, but for some odd reason, it seems that some of the skills are working right. Which is quite odd. It's the Leap skill, which I've used before, but now it doesn't seem to want to work on enemies. Not sure what's up with that. I have been using HotSpot, so I made sure everything was in the right order and such.

Eh, I'll keep trying stuff; maybe there's something else going on that it doesn't like or something.

alright, i downloaded this class mod threw hotspot, the first and only thing ive downloaded so for, ran the binary removal thing, and i still cant get any texture or gear on my character T.T i see someone else had this problem but he also had other mods loaded at the same time. any one have any suggestions?

edit: i should probably add that i uninstalled it and installed the spiritist and the texture on that one works, so now im left scratching my head
