That folder is hidden by default. You'll need to show hidden files & folders in folder options or something along the taskbar.

Being the tinkerer that I am, I tried to edit some values in the respecpotion.dat, to see if Torchlight automatically detected that the .dat had changed and compiled it in to the pre-compiled .adm format...alas, no. It seems TorchEd is required to generate the pre-compiled binary files the engine uses.

I was poking around a bit also; .adm files are administrative templates used by the Group Policy Editor in Windows. I tried to open one of the .adm files with that but couldn't get it to open; either I did it incorrectly or it's just a coincidence that the files share this extension. Has anyone with experience with the Microsoft Group Policy Editor tried to open up one of the .adm files yet?

I'm pretty convinced that these ADM files are not related to this Group Policy Editor thingy at all ;). I've taken a look at them, their structure is not too complicated as far as I've seen (I'm not fully through yet).

Sorry for this newbie question but what does this mod do? I'm not a PC gamer and have never 'modded' a game before.

If you guys who are crashing could run the game, make it crash, and post last page of your Ogre.log file in %appdata%/Runic Games/Torchlight, that would help me a lot in isolating the problem. Thanks!

I tried testing the accented name as a source of the crash, and my game ran with the mod fine, but another user reported that he was able to create a new account without accents and it worked, so give that a try also and let me know if that solves anything.

Will the mod run on the demo version?

Turns out it was the dots over a letter in the user name that created the problem, this also made the game unable to crate the orge.log file :p However since you can't change the username I can't play with mods on my default user. And copying over all settings and stuff is a hassle but will respec on the other login then transfer the char back. Would be glad if you could fix the problems with some usernames so I don't have to transfer everything or just use a login for playing torchlight xD

We have reproduced the bug in-house, and hopefully we'll have a fix for you guys. If we're lucky, it applies to the instance without special characters as well.

So, are there any plans to add a stat respec potion?

Nice! This means I can probably stop playing on my special Torchlight windows-account soon and continue with my normal special-character-windows-account after the fix? :)
Glad you've read my post about the special characters, I hope it helped out a bit to find the cause of the bug! Good luck!

Found one problem with the Respec potion so far - if you don't remove a skill from your hotkey bar and you respec out, you can still use the skill despite having no points in it.

no
the only way you are marked as a cheater is doing something from the console

and just for your future information, the
ascend
command will not mark you as a cheater, but just about everything else in the console will

Found a bug related to this mod.

I have a lvl15 character using the following ring. Notice the level requirement, it's 11.
Image

After buying and drinking the potion, the level requirement jumps to 16!

Doesn't make any sense, but here is the save file so you can reproduce it yourselves: http://www.file-upload.net/download-1978216/2.svt.html

Hi, I'm running Windows XP 32bit, and using the Steam version.

I placed the mod into my C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\Application Data\runic games\torchlight\mods folder, and as someone mentioned on the first page, the game loads really slowly, and infact..the first time, I exited out of it. The icon appeared on my taskbar, but no game or loading screen came up.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.

Thanks!

It's due to the armor mastery skill or whatever it is, reduces the requirements on armor pieces.
