I will certainly try this when I get home, it would be great to have the visibility of my kitty improved, he gets lost amidst the masses of mobs sometimes and the next thing i hear "your pet is fleeing" :D

Those pink parts seem a bit odd, and the texture a bit low quality but im guessing itll look better in-game than in screenshots.

I fixed the whole problem on TorchlightInsider.com and added the file to the mod post. Great mod, I was just talking to Jason Beck about it, definitely top quality!
I'll be back for Torchlight II with a calculator and more! This time I'm going to team up with Runic Games Fansite for world domination :D

Great job Cacy!

I tried putting it in the mods folder (I don't want to mess with the original files) but it didn't work :(. None of my texture mods will work in the mods folder either and I'm sure I got the path names right....

...runic games/torchlight/mods/IceCat/media/models/Cat/cat_pet.dss

Ah well, let's hope the Editor will fix this issue.

Yeah, I couldn't make it work either, even though that is supposed to be the correct way to load mods. Replacing files within the Pak.zip is too... permanent.

Ah... I was going nuts trying to figure out why my dog re-skins weren't working... I got my Blue Gobbler to work as a mod, wondering why the dog can't be changed the same way?

'cause there is a bug, and i think the devs know about the bug.
the only way you can do this with the dog is, is the way i wrote in my first post.

I actually just got this to work as a mod without touching the pak.zip. Anyone interested (in betatesting)?

Came up with the solution while studying files to mod the dog into medea. Betatestet it myself a bit, no bugs found so far.

You're welcome. ;)

I used png-files for my other pet-overwrites, so dds files aren't a must. Just to clarify this. Adding recolored textures to armors is quite easy, adding it to helmets really bugs me, because I can't get this to work.

Looking forward to the mods you're going to create via this method. :D

So.. I can just use something like IrfanView to resave the .dds file to .png, then edit that .DAT file so that instead of:

<STRING>TEXTURE_OVERRIDE:media/models/cat/icecat_pet.dds

it says

<STRING>TEXTURE_OVERRIDE:media/models/cat/MYPET.png

..correct?
