My Little Pet Zealot [CAUTION]

EDIT: USE WITH CAUTION. THE ZEALOT *CAN* DIE, AND THIS *WILL* SCREW UP YOUR GAME. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

The result of some questions I asked in the Modding forum, I managed to mod the Zealot in to be used as a pet. Excellent for all those WoW Warlocks on rehab.

I haven't tweaked the stats of the Zealot at all, so there might be some unexpected bugs related to the fact that she's still a mob rather than a pet. However, my "extensive" testing (2 dungeon levels) have not revealed any problems... yet.

Download here, install as per all the other mods. Please be aware that there may be conflicts with any mods affecting the General Merchant as I modded him to sell the Giant Zealot Fish.

cool checking it out now, does this apply to all monsters, like if i change something in your mod to make it a different monster will that work ?

Wow! :shock: If it can really work as a pet even better (but to add new pets should be as easy a new classes?). At least worth checking. :)

I'd like to let you know that I don't have any weird sounds in the title screen with the character active that has the Zealot. I waited for 10 seconds and didn't hear anything out of place.

Furthermore, opening the pet panel, you normally see your cat/dog/whatever in the "preview" window. The Zealot doesn't appear there, it's a small black screen with the 2 rotation arrows. Pressing these arrows will crash your game.

It's not an issue for me, but I felt like letting you know in case you're the perfectionist modder that wants everything done right :p

Other than that, I love the mod.

You know what really would be epic? A small Ordrak, with all the special abilities the real Ordrak has, but just massively nerfed. Now that's a keeper! ;)

Thanks for the heads up on the various issues. Unfortunately, changing the pet was just about the limit to my abilities. I can probably tweak attributes and the like, but fixing the problems you mention goes far beyond my capabilities. Maybe when the editor comes out I'll be able to put together something better, but this is about the best I can do with raw code. Feel free to work on the mod if the fancy takes you though, I think your Ordrak is really oresome! *gak*

By the way, if you scroll down in this thread, you'll see the boss (Medea) version of the Zealot. Maybe you'd want to use that one instead? ;)

The fish needs to be edited too, with the effect to change to the name (As shown in the code above) "<STRING>NAME:MechCrawlerPet"
You can keep the fishname the same if you want. Anyway, my code is more "proper" code for preventing erroneus pets.

BIG problem!! The Zealot can be KILLED !!!

and when it`s killed then check the pet window and rotate the pet will cause the game BOOMED...

I downloaded this mod and I loved it.. for 5 minutes. There seems to be one huge bug. If your pet dies, it dies forever. Restarting, teleporting to town/back.. nothing brings it back. To top it off, your pet window also disappears for good. Had to delete one of my characters because of this.

I love the idea of the mod, but is it possible to just make the pet *look* like the mob and still act like itself? The fact that it dies permanently and doesn't flee makes this mod unusable. :(

Same problem with 2 guys above.
Zealot fled when she has low HP, but when she deal with too strong opponents. Her HP down to 0 and she die, die forever.
You can see violet point in the graveyard of town. And when she die, open chest in town can make the game crash.
Hope these bugs will be fixed soon.
