Just finished the game and it's an awesome game. Now trying some of the mods available in this forum.
Nice mod. Thumbs up and thanks.

I tried to edit some of the lines like Zorf did.
However I did encountered some weird problems.

All the green/blue EQs dropped come with around 12 lines, and level dependent enchancement.
However, the gold/unique/set item seems to not be affected.
The number of enhancements was fine but the stats came with it are far below those blue/green EQs
Any idea why?

Just in case, beside using this mod, I also using the 4 stash mod and the lv999max mod. Just this 2.

at the top RIGHT corner of your item's information window you will see "(equipped-right/left hand) Unique/Rare item"

if it says UNIQUE item, the stats will NOT change from drop-to-drop, in other words you cannot change these UNIQUE items via changing the Globals.dat file.

the only things that change are Rare items, or items that have not been flagged as Unique in the torchED files even though they say "unique" in the item's box.

That doesn't look like 100% to me, or am I missing something here (I haven't gotten any wipes though)?

is there a way to modify a mod (mod a mod!) like this so that instead of only Unique drops, you mostly get Set drops?

I'd like to play it with roughly the following settings:

Same white drops
Virtually no green drops except rings/necklaces
Virtually no Blue drops except weapons
Set drop frequency changed to roughly the drop rate of Blue drops in vanilla Torchlight
Unique drops stay the same

100% success means the items do not LOOSE their enchantments. enchanting always has a chance to do nothing.

Actually, it's possible to make sure something happens each time. The problem lies in how this mod was created:

<FLOAT>ENCHANTER_MAGIC_CHANCE:80.000000

The first value represents the chance that the item will receive a socket, and the second value represents the chance that the item will receive an enchantment. I assume the creator of this mod thought, "Oh, I'll make it 80% chance to enchant and 20% chance to socket, so since 80% and 20% equals 100%, that means there's a 100% chance for something to happen." That, however, is not how the numbers work. If you really want to make sure something happens every time, then you have to set the MAGIC_CHANCE value to 100. Then there will never be failure. You can still get sockets, too. It's all about the dice roll. I think if you set both values to 100, then you'd have a true 50% chance for enchantment and 50% chance for a socket, and absolutely 0% chance that nothing will happen.

In that case it's not a "100% Success", but rather a "0% Wipe". You might want to edit that in order to prevent any further discontent. ;)

I found and replaced this mod with another one that actually does exactly what it says.

Ok I like the increased weight this mod gives for making Uniques and Set pieces drop more frequently than blues/greens/whites, BUT the rate of all drops is just ridiculous for me. I can get 10-20 golds in just one level. I'd be happy with just 5% of that, 1-2 random gold/pink drops per level with a decent chance of one dropping from a boss or chest. I have been playing with the values in the global.dat but haven't had any luck changing the drop rate. Can anyone help? The values I have been changing with no effect are:

<INTEGER>NORMAL_ITEM_WEIGHT
<INTEGER>MAGIC_ITEM_WEIGHT
<INTEGER>UNIQUE_ITEM_WEIGHT

and

<FLOAT>MAGICFIND_MAGIC_INFLUENCE
<FLOAT>MAGICFIND_UNIQUE_INFLUENCE
<FLOAT>MAGICFIND_RANDOM_INFLUENCE

do I need to reset something after changing these values or do I just need a better set of these values?

This mod will cause ALL monsters / chests to drop items that are ONLY unique, set, green (rarely)


Maybe this is a stupid question :lol: but how can i enable again the drop rate for green items :?: (no rings).I have my own drop formula and i don't know how to re-enable the rare items in globals.dat

it works for every item but 1 crossbow called a cinquedas or something like that. ive gotten white ones a couple times now, but its not really a big deal, just thought id mention it. i probably spelled it way wrong too, its wierd. everything else has always been unique or set with some blues tossed in once in a while, but this one crossbow type has come up white repeatedly.

hey guys just got a question, if you activate this mod, get a lot of items and stuff, then deactivate the mod, do you lose all the unique items you've gained? cheers

Something like this could be interesting if applied only to Boss and maybe Mini Boss monsters. All monsters though? Not for me. Cool mod though.

Hey, I like your mod, however I don't want uniques falling from the sky, is there anyway to make it so that all the drop rates are the same as normal but bosses and mini bosses have a 100% chance to drop *1-2* uniques or sets, and normal mobs will never drop uniques and sets.

No, you can see it this way, all items you get under this mod are the same(as legal) as the ones you will get without the mod.
This mod just only change the drop rate of the game.
So feel free to delete it when you have acquried the items you desired. :D

No, you can't specifically do that, at least not using this mod.
because it wil only change the overall drop rate.

But you can lower the drop rate, see if that helps.

Again, lower the drop rate might help.

Well, you can decrease the unique item weight and increase the magic item weight.

You are right, so I have changed the magic chance to 100%.

In this case, enchantment will never do nothing.

But I don't wanna mess around with files unless I know exactly what I'm doing.
I looked at you global.dat file and have no idea where I would change it to drop sets at all! Could you help me?
I could paste the entire text file but it would be quite long lol.

Sadly, you can't change the drop rate(item weight) to make it drop set items all the time using this mod, as set items themselves are also rare/unquie items. Hence, I think the only way to do that is to delete/change all the other items/drop rates excerpt the set items inside the database, but this will require lots of work.

Anyway, you won't have fun if all the items drop are set items......if you really want set items, there are lot of item saves out there, just google them.
Usually, the items are put inside the file "sharedstash.bin" inside your save, so just clear whatever you have in your own share stash, quit the game, and then replace it with the share stash file you download.

By the way, the reason I created this mod is to find the best-fit yellow items for my characters. Although there are only three main characters you can choose, you can build each of them in quite a lot of ways, so finding the right yellow items are crucial(set items are set, so normally are not well fit).
