Would it be possible, I wonder, if instead of adding multiple independent stashes, to add more panels ala merchant screens to the existing stash? And to make them automatically sort equipment types? Weapons to weapon pane, armor to armor pane, etc.

Like a merchant with no starting equipment and a chest mesh with zero prices of buying and selling, he can't lose his equipment also. I'm not sure if it's possible. Remember that unit modification is very limited.

Hmm is there really no way to edit sharedstash.bin?

It seems odd the editor cant edit the shared stash despite it being known as a very highly anticipated feature of diablo clones...

sharedstash.bin is just for shared stash content it keeps data about the items, but behaviour of this stash is hardcoded in exe file.

I tried to do this as my first attempt but after creating the stashes and starting the game up for some reson the game had moved them above the town center piece.
I may try again to see if it was just a bug.

Unfortunately it is a bit bugged I had to move chest one snap unit to the left and one down. Still not working properly, right now i just got right central stash at the pillar the left one is in a wrong place. I still think town.layout file from TorchED is bugged and different to the original in game.

Yeah I just tried it again and it did the same thing, it really does not like the extra stashes near the pillar.
Think I will just stick with the other one that I already made :D

So can we add extra shared stashes ?

We talked about it already (mirrored contents), but you can check by yourself :) add a sharedstash monster this time.
I gotta see later what can we do about stashes at the pillar.

Suggestion:

I could give it a try but, tbh, by the time i'd figure out the how-to in T-ED, you'd have done this twice already :)

Ok... spent the last little while working on a Banker...

I got an NPC up as a Banker but it really just acts like another stash.
Anytime the merchants have a merchant window (with tabs) you have to buy or sell the stuff you take in and out.
Not too sure if you can change the way the merchant windows work.

So I made the Banker have a shared stash.

Here is my Zealot Banker in game...

Stash that looks like merchant? So there's sound of opening box when you try to talk to him? :D

Wait, so you can add a merchant unit with its own sharedstash that easily?
Then you might be able to set costs to 0 ?

(And give it your name if you release this^^)

Isn't it just stash with merchant's mesh? Even though we could add a merchant with 0 cost you can give him items even though his inventory is full, they'll be just lost.

Well, if it isnt just a merchant mesh as a stash, it might refresh after a while and suddenly ruin all the fun :?

Yeah was thinking about this myself so I am going to test it... will put a few cheap items in and see what happens over time :D

It is a merchant but set with a Stash Inventory, and it loses its merchant status once the stash window is changed from merchant to stash.

Will post back when I see what it does.

If anything it should just add another stash for you all to keep your items safe :D

I wonder what would happen, if you uninstall the mod and then use a savefile that has the added stash saved to it. Could there be problems? Did you by any chance test this?

Good question. Despite the warning of running game with different mods you can load your character without problem, but you'll lose all contents of additional stash, it seems to be not saved anymore. The game seems to be pretty flexible with managing mods and don't crash that easily.

To be sure, I decided to test it myself with a voluntary test character, and he survived ;)

Just like you said, the contents of the new stash are gone, even when you reinstall the mod, they don't reappear. But there didn't seem any problems with the save game.

I'm already using the stash with my main character. It's incredibly convenient for gem storage. Finally I have enough space to keep my items in order.

Thanks again! :)
