Description
There's a bug at the moment where if you use a permanent fish, it won't remain permanent, if you use a temporary fish it resets your pet to its original state (dog or cat). Using my Pet Transmogrification Potions mod I got a little depressed by this, as it meant I didn't want to use fish.
This mod changes the fish, it's a fishy total conversion, so to speak. It's a replacement of existing fish (and some are simply disabled, as I could only come up with so many ideas). What this means is that a fish that might have transformed your pet into a fire elemental will now give your pet a fire damage boost. Due to the way I made this mod, it should be compatible with mods that work with Fish, such as Fish vendors, Fish Mash (the transmutation mod), and so on.
What kinds of fish are there? You'll have to fish and find out! though if you want a sneaky peak, you can install a fish vendor mod and have a look at their stock.
2. License
This mod is considered public domain insofar as that it can be used by any member of the Torchlight community -- with the purpose of creating a mod in mind -- without credit to the author or linking to the source modification, with the provision that anyone who uses the code accepts that the code is based on the property of Runic Entertainment, and all the copyright considerations that entails.
3. Installation
Download
Once you've got the mod downloaded, open the zipfile and decompress it to this location: %AppData%\runic games\torchlight\mods
And that's it, you're done. Yay! Don't forget to clean out your mod cache! If you don't know how to do that, take a look here. I uploaded something that'll help.
( Note: Please delete the previous version of this mod whenever you install a new version. Please also remove any WIP versions you might have installed. )
4. Considerations
This mod doesn't immediately update your inventory, the fish in your inventory stay the same. Every new fish you collect however will be a stat-boosting fish. Whether you get them from fishing, from a vendor, or from loot (via a mod like I Hate Fishing).
It seems however that for active games, fish vendors don't update immediately, this might also be true for the 'inventory' of fishing holes. There are to workarounds for this.
1.) Load your game, exit to title, load your game again.
2.) Leave the map, come back to the map.
Both seem to work.
If you think any fish is unbalanced or if you believe anythting needs to be changed, please speak your mind. I do need aid balancing this mod.
5. Updates
Update #2
Mod updated to v2
I've replaced every fish other than the Muckfish and the Trollfish. I'm also satisfied with the balance after playing around with it a bit.
ToDo: Get the damn icons sorted.

Update #3
Mod Updated to v3
FFFF, quick update to fix some bugs. Fish are hard to test, sometimes.
