[RECIPE] Recipes Deluxe! 2.1

Recipes Deluxe! v2.1

Installation instructions:

1. Download the mod.
2. Extract the Rar to your mods folder. The location of this folder depends largely on your installation and your Operating System but typically it is in your user folder, in Appdata/Application Data -> Roaming -> Runic Games -> Torchlight -> Mods. Place the folder in its entirely into the mods folder.
3. Start torchlight and enjoy!

What This Mod Does:

It adds new recipes for use at the Transmutation.

Right now, the current recipes are the spell scroll recipes. 2 spell scrolls of one level transmute into 1 higher level scroll, just like gems. 2 Fireball I becomes a Fireball II.

The rare magic scrolls also all have recipes but they're hidden-ish. All of them are made by combining two level VI spell scrolls. As an example to get you started, Summon Blood Skeleton is transmuted by combining Summon Skeleton Archers VI and Summon Skeleton VI.

Added recycling recipes to expand upon the game's current recycling mechanic. Three of the same rarity and item type will get you a new, identified version of that same item type and rarity. Three blue chest armor will transmute into a new, randomly enchanted, un ID'd blue chest armor. Works with greens, blues, and golds.

Compatibility:

1: "Ancient Mod": This mod uses items defined outside the game's spawnclasses and unit-types and therefore do not work for the "Recycling" transmutation recipes.

Verision history:

V1.0: Initial Release
v1.1-1.4: Internal testing, not released to public. Bugfixes include/: Fixes the bug that let you make an Elemental Overload VI scroll with 0 items, and fixes the bug where Elemental Overload III x 2 makes an Elemental Protection IV scroll.
V1.5: Added "Recycling" recipes to expand on the game's basic recycling mechanic already in place.
v1.6: Fixed a bug with Heal All VI and the Aloe Gel recipe.
v1.7: Squashed the "Free Transmutation" bug once and for all this time.
v2.0: Misc bugfixes, integrated Lathlas' expanded spell scroll levelup recipes. Kudos to him, and thank you!
v2.1: Integrated Lathlas second set of recipes for town portal and ID spells, and his support for a summon spider skill mod.

Lathlas made a nice expansion for this that adds recipes that use 4 of the same level scroll to transmute into a spell 2 levels up, much like the gem recipes. That was a recipe that apparently didn't get deleted properly. It was the precursor to the recipes that are in the next version: Expanding the "Recycling" system present in vanilla Torchlight. Now, placing any 3 of the same type and rarity of an item will generate an unidentified version of that item.

a.k.a.: 3 rare bows = 1 new unidentified rare bow
3 Unique Swords = 1 new unidentified unique sword.

I've ht a funky bug though... for whatever reason, having 1 of any item in there now puts the item back in your inventory and generates an Elemental OVerload VI scroll. Can't isolate the issue...

Did squish an unrelated bugt though where 2 elemental overload 3's made an elemental *protection* IV. Easy mistake to make, I guess. Missed it the first time slogging through.

Okay... take that back... simply hitting "transmute" with *nothing* in the transmuter's ivnentory makes an elemental overload 6.

I also noticed a mod compatibility issue. Presumably because the Ancient Items mod is added outside the game's default spawnclasses, you can't transmute Ancient items together to get a random Ancient item. I may make an optional addon to make them compatible once I figure it out if I can.

Nice mod, I was finally able to get a blood skeleton using the transmuter, no one would sell me one, heh. Found a bug though, whenever I try to transmute with nothing (or an invalid combination) I get a free Heal All 6 spell. Also, aren't there multiple levels of the Web spell? I haven't found any beyond 1, but if there aren't, why is it labeled "Web I" and not just web? If there are several levels, maybe you could add recipes for combining them like the other spells?

Nope, there's only one Web spell. And I bet Heal All VI has the same bug that Elemental Overload VI had... I was accidentally putting Count: 0 for the items. so an invalid or emtpy recipe was going "oh, you need 0 of this item to make that one, and there's 0 there, so here you go!"

EDIT: Yep. Fixed that and fixed a type in Aloe Gel too. I'll release the fix later, I want to make some other recipes hopefully.

I know of no mod that conflicts with this except the Ancients Mod, but only in that you can't transmute ancient items to recycle them. They run concurrently perfectly fine.

There are recycler recipes with count of 0. This is what's causing thing to appear when nothing is in the transmuter. I loaded up your mod and just arrowed through all the recipes and these are the ones with a 0 count:

Until his items are in a "unittype" like "Ancient Polearm" "Ancient Shoulderarmor" etc, I can't do it. Just not possible, not with my current system anyways.

There's a bug in ELEPROT4X2.dat, it wants to turn 2 elemental overload spells in an elemental protection.

Edit: I made an expansion for your mod as well, you're welcome to package them together if you want.

This adds the ability to transmute four of the same spell for one two level's up (the same way gems work)

I thought I fixed that one...

Nice job on the expansion work! I had thought about adding them in myself but then I tried to remember how often I actually had 4 of the same gem to use, and figured the odds of having 4 of the same spell scroll would be about the same. So I decided to save some thumb twiddling and didn't add them.
