Why are we making this mod:

So far since the release of Torchlight, only small mods of items, pets, skins, and minor game play changes have been made. Sometimes these mods will be conflicting yet the player wants both to work. That is one reason. Another is that we still see there are many things that needs polish and improvement.

Our Goal:

Ultimately the final destination is to polish the game in every way possible. However it is not a task for one buy a team. Therefore, this team will grow as will this mod. Finally, we hope to bring a more immersive story, more intensive game play, and more extensive items. Of course we will be making the game more balanced and in ways make the game play more smooth if possible.

Knowing that there are many modders out there, I suggestion that we start grouping similar ideas/implementations together and avoid repetition. This way we can have one better mod instead of many little nice mods :)

Increase character development, balance skills/spells/items, add new skills/spells, add new items... that's things everyone's planning to do with the mod. That's the whole point of the editor.

You're asking us to discuss this, but we're already discussing it in about a hundred other threads. If you want us to talk, you've got throw out some original ideas of your own. If you want to extend Runic's single player campaign, post some details. Right now's a great time to plan but, if you're just after our ideas, all ya gotta do is browse the forums.

Hey, thx for the response. Part of my plan is to maybe try to organize this whole "increase depth" thing better. Instead of 25 different mods, maybe we can all work together and make one great mod! So right now I'm definitely coming up with original ideas. I will be constantly changing this mod post.

I see it like there are small mods (140 in showcase by now?) and there will be packages.
Some guy (or team) takes most interesting mods and ideas, adds some new storyline, maybe new town, dungeon and items and creates unofficial, but complete Torchlight addon. Addons will differ one from each other depending on modders skills and may bring totally different game experience.
You, looks like, want to bring something like that.
At the end, some addons may be combined together and will provide content exceeding that of original Torchlight.
Hopefully people will be open to the fact that others can use their mini-mods in addons and expansions.

Yes, that is exactly my thoughts. However, I will not simply go on and take people's mod and include it in mine. I feel that no matter how small the mod is, people still worked hard for it. So, I will always ask that person to include his/her mod in my mod and credit that part to the author. Hopefully, slowly, I will have a team working together and making a more complete mod. My main reason is to minimize clashing.

Definitely my team and I will add in new terrain. However, we are still in the process of finding more 2D tile artists and a lot of other things are getting planned. I will add a discussion thread in 3 hours (working right now) just so that ideas can get going. No worries !

If you have some 2D art or something, I might also help with modeling.

This is very close to what I was thinking about.

1) Balance everything a bit more.
2) Fix the Skill tooltips so the bonus % from attributes and weapon damage are correct.
3) Extend Itemization to over level 50.
4) Fix Sets missing piece(s) / Having more then one item for the same slot.
5) Have your Pet inherit your Pet mastery skill (Like it does your spell masteries).
6) Show your currently summoned minions (D2 style HUD where single summons have health bars and groups just show the number alive).
7) Extend skill levels to 20 (And add effects for skill levels up to 30+ so +skill items are not useless).

It looks like you and I have a very similar goal in mind.

Willing to work together?

My thread: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5883

I was looking at a way to make a "Massive User-Created Constantly Growing Expansion Pack". I'd be willing to join your team. I have some years of coding behind me (but I may take a while to get back up to speed) and I am willing to work on mapping as much as I can and help with the mod management (and I can also provide website hosting for the project).

Yeah, I definitely want to be a part of this. I have some good ideas pertaining to game play. I have one request though, the groups modding campaigns/design for this game need to be unified so instead of us coming up with tons of crap we have a single, or a few, good additions to the game.

Just as a bump/update, work is continuing in strides. Hopefully the item balancing part of TorchEX will be available for testing by the end of next week.

hey, want a betatester? :O or item/skill balance tester? im up for it!

Here are some ideas xD
would be great if the "unofficial community modding expansion" feautered more vendors, with like pet shops, banks, quest givers, thougher main q bosses (for lower lvl's and difficulty)
bigger torchlight town, choose your own "random map dungeon" and some almost linear 3-4 floors duneons(that you can access from diffrent parts in torchlight) with the final floor having named raremobs and "end boss" pluss a boss per dungeon lvl.

Spoiler: show
oh for easy difficulty can you guys add monster hp and defence? not damage, and some more mobs , my "walk in the park" character kills too fast hehe
