Patch 1.15 is out, you can get it from http://www.torchlightgame.com/download/

The RUNIC GAMES patch and most partner patches should allow you to upgrade from 1.12b to 1.15 without requiring you to reinstall or reactivate your game. You can run the 1.15 installer and it will update your existing installation. Some partners (for example, Wild Tangent) may require you to uninstall your existing version and install the new version after downloading it from their site.

For all partner patches, existing characters will still be usable after the patch.

Patch Notes

New Content

Patch 1.15 includes 5 new challenge room maps to test your bravery and wit! New players can now obtain these maps as rewards for completing various quests from Vasman in Torchlight. New challenges await in the Tomb of the Awakened, Estherian Ruins, Dwarven Fortress, Molten Prison, and Black Palace.

Content Fixes

  • Root Golem Fire Breath now deals damage
  • Ember Bolt had a bad value in higher levels
  • Zealot lightning bolt now does damage
  • Gem effects accumulating when recovering from socketed items
  • Sushi Helm Recipe fix
  • Added Blind Effect for modders
  • New Unittype of Bossmap for modders
  • Multiple spelling fixes
  • Fixed a few spots where floor tiles where missing or had the wrong collision set
  • Fixed various locations where monsters were getting stuck in some levels
  • Limited Multi-language support added for modders ( tool coming )
  • You can now attach layouts to items – for modders
  • You can now have up to 50 waypoints – for modders
  • Scale effect can now be permanent – for modders Soul Rend magic damage scales with strength and magic 50%, 50%
  • Doom Quake, Titan Stomp dmg scales with strength 50%
  • Needle Arc dot damage scales with strength and dex 100%, 100%
  • Ember Lightning additionally deals 20% of weapon damage on the first chain
  • Magic Weapon expertise passive does not interact strangely with other passives around level 9
  • Shock Trap now scales with ranks.
  • Flame Trap and Shock Trap now scale with pet mastery.
  • Ember Lance no longer stops passive buffs

  • Fix for input latency on low FPS for skills; hotbar skills and items

Basically, yes. We at Perfect World are currently running QA on our patch version, and it should be ready soon.

build handed off to vendor means Runic has done QA on the patch internally and have handed it off to the various partners to get released. Since our partners each have QA in their process before they release, there is sometimes a slight delay in their release schedule compared to Runic.

There was a bug in the last version at least where certain nested affix data wasn't shown in skill descriptions. This often resulted in blank lines in the skill descriptions or just straight omissions.

For instance:

Lightning Bomb (teslabomb.dat) calls Tesla Bomb Impact (teslabombimpact.dat) on detonation, which is the actual skill that deals damage.

Tesla Bomb Impact (teslabombimpact.dat) Applies the affix TESLABOMB (teslabomb.dat) to an AoE around the impact.

TESLABOMB (teslabomb.dat) deals 80-140% damage modified 50% by Dexterity and 150% by Magic and a mild Knockback effect.

However, the skill description doesn't show that the skill's damage is modified by Dexterity and Magic in that way. It should have a little Bow with 50%, and a staff with 150%. Since 150% is actually a pretty significant modifier, on this skill it's particularly informative. I'm certain that the reason that it wasn't showing was because of the fact that it was teslabombimpact.dat that's actually applying the affix, not teslabomb.dat. However, to a player, that's unimportant, and there's a large number of skills in the base game, and potential modded skills that this affects. I know that this issue was brought up before, and I haven't had the opportunity to get the patch yet, so I was wondering if this has been corrected.

Thanks for the new Torchlight v1.15, I didn't even notice it got updated on Steam (Steam the ninja patcher).

Just a slightly off-topic question, why didn't Torchlight get released on Impulse? Not that it bothers me, I'm just curious.

Summon skeleton archers works better now, but still summons one less skeleton (description says 8 but I can count only 7).

When you click on the link that says "I purchased the physical boxed version of Torchlight" it says to go to the encore site to get the patch, but the only patch listed is the 1.12(11/9/09) patch for the digital copy. It states "Patches on this page are ONLY for people who digitally downloaded Torchlight from this site. People who purchased a box copy or who downloaded the game from another site should not download this patch." So where can those of us who bought the game from Gamestop get the 1.15 patch?

It will be available on the Encore page you went to. They are still working on releasing the patch onto their site and should have it updated soon.

So the "patch" for Torchlight 1.15 (torchlightgame.com version) is yet ANOTHER 410 mb download? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Are there really SO many fundamental changes to the game with each update that I am required to download the ENTIRE installation again? Can Runic seriously not issue a proper patch?

I already had to do this with version 1.12. I almost don't want to play the game anymore because I know that patching it to stay current is a ridiculous process. Do I have to use up another activation of my serial to install it too? That would just be perfect.

Will saves from version 1.12 work with 1.15? I'm playing a hardcore Vanguisher, and have managed to stay alive for quite a while so I wouldn't want to give her up just yet :)

From the list of added files, it seems like they added the data for the ferret pet (called 'weasel' in the files) except for the ability to choose him in the character creation screen, and a few new enemies (another form of the 'Hairy Spider', and three forms of a ceiling spider), plus the stuff for the new maps. Also, there's an invisible lever added, and a 'viewpoint' lever, but I don't know what that does.
