Torchlight.exe Not Responding

I'll preface this by saying that I have used Ogre3D to develop small games in my free time, it's a hobby of mine. So I know that the ogre 1.6.4 dll's run just fine with my setup.

I bought my game via Direct2Drive.com, downloaded and installed just fine. Activated my copy, however when I run the program it just locks up. No ogre.log available, and there was no settings.txt file in my torchlight directory. I do not have an icon for run in Safe Mode. Also, I couldn't run google chrome until I ran a registry cleaner and reinstalled the program. Google chrome wouldn't reinstall until I ran a registry cleaner.

I added a settings.txt file and threw in what was listed in another thread, and it still locks up with no error window, no ogre.log. I played around with some of the settings related to resolution and fullscreen mode, still doesn't respond.

Any ideas?

You can try running the game in safe mode by the command line: torchlight.exe safemode=1

If that still doesn't work could we get you to do the steam demo? We want to see if it's a direct2drive issue.

Also the settings file should be under %app_data%/runic games/torchlight/settings.txt.

If you don't see it there, here is what it should have in it.

if that still doesn't work try this:
Change your settings.txt to windowed( which it should be ) and make the res like 640x480. Also might want to kick on OpenGL for testing.

PS: Also are you running in Vista or Win7?

Ok, I think this is a mixture of the following:
Something funky
Impatience
Knowing enough to be dangerous

After running the demo just fine, I went ahead and reinstalled the full game from Direct2Drive.com. After I ran the program I had a client walk in (I'm at work, so what?). I spent about 10 minutes with the client and then I heard the game music from my office. Interesting that it took this long on the first time, but now it loads up like a champ. I'm betting I've got something malicious somewhere on my computer. I'll look into it later on, if I find anything I'll let you know.
