I actually a having an issue. It loaded up perfectly but every time I log out it doesn't save the character, it just picks up from the same spot everytime

I'm not getting that problem
1) I took out every char except yours from my save file.
2) I started the game and it displayed your char.
3) I clicked continue.
4) I fought a little bit in that dungeon level, picked up some items, died, and resurrected in town.
5) I quit the game. Restarted.
then I did steps 2-3 again and it loaded the char in town, right where I left him, with the additional items in his inventory.

I went back and deleted the file that you sent.
Downloaded it again and moved it over.
Then it worked fine.


Not sure what happened when downloading it the first time, but the file took a wrong a turn and wasn't updating every session. Now it works wonderful after try number two.

Here's something I haven't seen suggested here that worked great for me!

I couldn't get the console thing to work, however, when I chose my character and it was loading, I held down the left mouse button (the command for the character to move.) The character loaded before the chest I was stuck on did, and the character ran right out of the area that I was stuck in. If you're stuck on an item in the game such as a chest or table, this may work for you as well.

Er, actually I managed to get myself unstuck. Z0mbie I tried your suggestion and while it didn't immediately unstick me, it seemed to "loosen" me up - I had a little more wiggle room and made it out.

the Secret Mines are the strangest place
I've had 4 people say they're stuck there, but evertime I open a char file in there, they're NEVER stuck
instead, you all all in the EXACT SAME place and you are all SURROUNDED !
and I mean SURROUNDED
in your face surrounded
I had to reload your char 3 times, because the first 2 times I was killed as soon as I opened your char
it is so weird

anyway, both of you are unstuck now and you both have a little breathing room

Thank you jamesL. Haha, that is strange. I mean, when i uploaded the file there was no enemies visible and i was stuck on that ledge (if that is the right word). Anyways, thank you again.

im stuck in a secret room, the portal don't work...
when i try the settings.txt but in game directory the file don't existe.

i'm not very good with engish, i read some answers but i don't find anything that help me...

are other thing i can do?
im in lvl 55 and dont want lose it...

to get the settings file
click on the Start button on the taskbar
then in the search or run box type
%appdata%
and hit enter
this will bring up a list of folders
look for a folder named
runic games
then inside that for a folder named
torchlight
then inside is a file named settings.txt
it must be opened in wordpad
change the line
CONSOLE :0
to
CONSOLE :1
save the file and start the game
load your char and press
shift ~
that's shift and the little wavy line ~
then hopefully a console will come up
type
ascend town

if all that doesn't work, create an account on mediafire or sendspace or somewhere you can upload a file
then take your char's save file and upload it there so I can download it and try to unstick it
the save file will be in
runic games\torchlight\save
and will be called 0.svt or 1.svt or something like that
or you might just see it as 0 or 1
