[Linux] Characters are missing heads

Postby scrawl » Tue Sep 18, 2012 1:32 pm

I bought the torchlight linux version from humble indie bundle 6, Linux 64 bit. I'm running a Nvidia geforce 460 Ti Oc, with up to date drivers. In the character selection screen, the warrior displays fine, but the other two characters are missing their heads.

I have attached Ogre.log file, though I can't see anything suspicious in there.

Looks likes it has to do with headwear or something like it ...
( My Destroyer had a perfectly working head until he put on a cap ; and since it's the only character without hair or headwear ... )
Alpha channel bug maybe ...

edit: Ubuntu 12.04 64bits, amd 6570 with latest drivers.

Any characters with hair or helmets have no heads.

Thanks for the Linux port btw.

I've got the same problem. This laptop has hybrid graphics. I've been using the less powerful one. Both the cards are ATI.

OK..This is a known issue.. I'm still trying to identify exactly what is causing it.. And the confirmation that it is NOT an nvidia only issue is helpful.

Also no heads here... Any playable character that has a hat or hair. NPC characters have heads though, just the 3 playable characters at issue here.

Asus EAH6850 (this is a Radeon 6850 card) here, so definately not nvidia only.

Arch64 linux, i5, Asus EAH6850 (1GB), 8GB ram...

Same thing here:

Fedora Core 16 32bit, ATI Mobility Radeon HD3470

Actually, the headless helmet floating on top of the body is kind of cool! ;)

Great port!

Same issue here (not the missing heads)

I have hybrid graphics, with Nvidia 630 and HD Intel 4000.

I'm playing with the Intel Graphics card (i've tried with the nvidia using bumblebee )

I can't get the game to 1980x1080, unless in window mode (and i'm almost pretty sure is not 1980x1080)... If i try to raise the graphics definitions (shadowing, and other definitions), the game exits with errors from the ogre rendering engine.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64
My laptop is an Asus N56VM...

Experiencing this issue too. It's not critical, but quite unpleasant.

Archlinux x86_64 with intel E6750 and nvidia gt 550 ti + blob 304.43

Thanks in advance

I can vouche for this error existing and take it a step further:

The game model corruption happens a lot and is ever present. If you enable 'netbook mode' the issue is significantly reduced and the only time you get model corruption (artifacts) is when you try to level up your character. When you try to do that, in netbook mode, all text becomes corrupted.

During regular play (non netbook mode) the character models for the playable character are very corrupted and artifacts are ever present. For example, on the "New/Continue/options" screen the girl's and the techno-mage's heads are missing. When you load into the game, their character models are either all black (and glossy) or some strange artifacted texture. The big guy get's corrupt during play as well.

It comes more prevelant when you click on an NCP with an action, such as talking to them. Then the character model textures just go out the window.

Often times, it then also takes the text and menu items with it.

In essence, this game is currently unplayable under Linux.

My setup:

ArchLinux x64 on an Intel i7 CPU with a ATI/AMD Radeon HD card. Currently running Gnome3. I have also tried running the game in it's own seperate X-server without any corruption improvement ... though the frame-rate did go up as expected (yey).

Only the missing heads is a known bug. The rest isn't somthing that has been reported by others AFAICT, and not something I have seen. Might be a driver problem on your end?
