Get yourself a nice big enchanted item on non-hardcore and then hand it down to a new hardcore character when you retire.

Are you sure it is possible to inheirit from softcore to hardcore? Certainly the softcore Stash is not congruent to the Hardcore stash.

Possible via download tool or renaming your sharedstash to sharedstashh.
