Gbrown helped some here we go finally.
Layout link:
A layout link is an object in a layout that holds a sub-layout. Most of the props and things inside a level are layout links. You can set up a candelabra layout that has the mesh and the candle flame particles, then load that layout as many times as you want in your room layout using layout links. then, if you want to change the candelabra, you only have to change one file instead of each individual instance of that candelabra
Layout link particle:
Same as a layout link, only if you put it into a logic group it will have different input/output events for manipulating the particle inside the "layout link particle"
Layout link timeline:
Same as a layout link, only if you put it into a logic group it will have different input/output events for manipulating the timeline inside the "layout link timeline"
Logic
There are many and I can't go through all of them right now. I too hope someone takes the time to go through and explain all these, but my focus is on editor bug fixes and whatever quick explanations I can do right now. If you have questions about specific logic objects, I can give quick and dirty answers for the time being. (sorry, a lot of the rest of the team is currently taking much needed time off right now and I'm having to triage a bit)
Noise
There are a number of ways sound work. Sounds are organized in sound bank in the sound bank editor. Sound banks can then be played by:
-setting predefined unit values (like setting the hit sound in the unit data for a monster or a drop sound on an item)
-or adding a "playsound" key to a unit's animation.
-or making a sound object in a layout and triggering it to play through layout logic (this can be in a level, particle system, skill layout, etc)
oh and maybe some footnotes on items always needed, like portal, and the items to make one, as well as start location for when you port in to the map... these are in the tutorials i know, but would be nice things to have with a idiots dictionary.
can anyone help with defining them...
