[suggestion] mini games

Postby bref » Mon Jun 25, 2012 7:35 am

have played a lot of hack and slash games, some thing that many of these games miss are minigames this would remove some of the grinding feel to all hack n slash games, and give the players some thing to relax, before they continue on their missions. this would give the game some thing to come back too like in knights of old republic with the card game "paazak".

this minigames could give you some item if you win etc, think it would be really fun to have

what do you guys think ?

Why not, if it is optional im ok with that. But to tell you the truth I would much more want to see more monsters than more mini games. After all there is fishing.

Mods. For sure. If they could put it in the game, that would be sweet, but eventually they just have to release the game at some point. Mini-games require some time and effort that I don't think Runic has at the moment.

That be okay, Depends of what kind of mini games, I guess i think it would be cool if they had like a Tetris game but it be cool if it's Torchlight style. That or like a slot casino game and have that Torchlight style as well, and if you win you can either get weapons,armor,HP-MP,coins, Maybe even skill points or character points it be cool.

The UI is pretty moddable. A creative person may be able to make something with that.

No?

If you want to play something other than torchlight2...why not take a break from torchlight2 and play something else?

I was gonna say, someone should really make a pazaak game since so many people like it...but hey, it's been done. So there you go.

It would be interesting if large chest/boss loot drops, when multiple players were present, would allow a game of rock paper scissors for an additional loot piece beyond each player's instanced drops.

MMOs always have loot settings like Round Robin, Master, Free for All, Need or Greed... never Rock Paper Scissors though.

It needed a really cool name to make up for the fact that nobody likes to do it.

Fishing serves as a nice break from hack and slash action. It's a minigame that ties into the larger game, the best kind of minigame!

Fishing is nice, but I've always seen it as "a more interactive chest" than anything else. It's not something I find myself doing unless I desperately NEED fish... which isn't often since I often forget to use them anyways. Or just fish until I get the one giant-size fish type I'm looking for and then never again.

Maybe if I knew there was more possible rewards than pet tags (which I can find elsewhere) fish themselves (which I have only a limited need of) and occasionally the same random equipment I can get more easily from drops?

Like, is there a rare Set of helmet, body, and legs, making up a complete Fish-Man Suit, that can ONLY be found via fishing?

Or some manner of water or fish themed spell scrolls, also found nowhere else in the game?

I wish it actually got difficult at times. I very rarely miss. I would actually like to set the difficulty on it to perhaps get some better stuff. The promising fishing hole isn't so promising. :|

As others have mentioned people might make some mini-game mods.

However, there are some puzzles in Torchlight II. I came across one in the beta,
I can't remember if it was necessary to move on though.

It was a tile room full of force field cubes and a room adjecent to it was a loot room,
it must have taken me around 20 minutes or so trying to solve
the puzzle to get into the room. :P

I think Torchlight 1 had a mod that re-created Pacman in the game. I never tried it though.

In M&M7, if you went into a pub you could play a card game called Arcomage. There was a quest in the game to play Arcomage in every pub in the game. Arcomage ended up being so popular that they published it separately. Something like that would be a cool mod.

That's really cool. I would love to see something like this happen.
