Hi, everyone I'm new to torchlight and just started playing the first one and looking forward to beating it before the second comes out. This game is awesome. I have a question and I'm not sure if it has been answered already. I plan on playing Torchlight 2 through Steam, and I was wondering if I would be able to use the new mods that come out with this game through Steam?

Thanks a lot for your help. Really looking forward to playing this game.

Hi, I was wondering about the steam integration of the game. more specifically :
- if you buy the game on steam, do you still need to make a runic account to login for online play ?
- if you buy the game on steam, can you still download the standalone game from the official website ?
- can you join a friend's game through the steam friend interface ? (inviting a friend too)
- achivements ? (not important, but was wondering about that the other day...)

thanks in advance !

aww, too bad. :(
I'd think that we'd be able at least to get the standalone download since with steam you'd get a product key that you'd link to your account. (much like the beta)

Will runic games learn from the mistakes that Diablo 3 made and improve their game even more?

Because the game is played with a mouse and keyboard, and the mouse movements does not transfer over to the controller very easy if at all.

But torchlight 1 is on xbox, isnt?

I was thinking in a control like the control of Lara croft and the guardian of light

Why would you not implement a more customisable multiplayer?

For an example, Serious Sam (the original ones, not HD) contains many many options to customize the gaming experience.
Well of course, you could hide the selections behind a "Advanced option" tab, so that players could still choose the normal "'are you braindead', 'booring', 'normal', 'now we get somewhere' and 'serious challenge'" predetermined gaming experiences.

What I am trying to say, let your gamers choose more and don't be stupid as another 'big boy' on the playground.

And, please, don't go the long way to utterly balance the game to death.. That sucks, too.. :D
I believe in replayability coming from the choices we all do differently. So, please, put that advanced options tab there ?
I mean, if I want to play some survival mode game, why not in Torchlight II ?

I kinda liked Magicka, but, ..
I loved Warhammer 40000 Space Marine, oh that stomping grinding multiplayer fun, but .. why only 4 player co-op ?
Borderlands.. mmm.. sweet.. but, 4 player co-op?

Why not go all the way if your engine can handle it? Opt for 8 or 16 player co-op ? You see, we all love the smell of napalm in the sunrise.. Put in some more random spawns, scale the world harder.. Whatever.. Don't stop, walk the extra mile, please please ?

The game is fully modable, so you have all the options you want.

You could probably brute force something and then make a mod out of it. Map the XBox buttons to various inputs and see where that gets you. Hrm. May not be an actual mod, may have to be a separate executable running in the background that would convert the XBox button presses to mouse/keyboard commands. Still doable, just maybe not easy.

... I may look into building something and see how that goes.

Hi. I am from Malaysia and I just would like to make some inquiry regarding about buying through stream whether do we receive a boxed copies as well.

The reason I ask this because I am a diehard fan for Torchlight and I would like to keep the copy of the game.. It would be nice for players to keep a hard copy of the game also beside having it download.

Digital download would be good but at the same time, I also hope that I can receive the hard copy as well.

Thanks

Simple answers (which are in the FAQ):
1-The only boxed versions will be the German and Russian versions. No other boxed versions have been announced at this time.
2- You do not get a boxed copy along with your steam order.

What's with the different release Versions and how is support/patches handled for them?

With different release versions I mean things like "direct from Runic" or "Boxed German version from Amazon" (I know there are more, but these two I am concerned with).

is the German distributor only distributing the exact same release as runic?
Or are they responsible for the german translation, will I become dependent on the German supplier for this for things like a patch. (Meaning Runic makes a patch, but the translators don't deliver I can not play the newest patch and most likely can not join many online games anymore)
Could they add some check to require the DVD to be in the player?
