Edit: Updated January 29, 2012

For the time being, please view the full FAQ at this link:

I will put the first couple sections up on here again when I'm finished updating/revising it, which will be a while since I have many hours to work in the following weeks.

Most frequently asked questions:
When is the game coming out?
Nobody knows. "Soon." First Quarter 2012 is likely (aka by early Spring) The first day of Spring----is the 20th of this month(April)....Will---you guys be releasing it(finally...)...within this month??????

When is the Beta?
Soon. It will be a closed beta, and pretty small just to test the networking code and infrastructure of the match making server.

Again, the link to the FAQ is here:

A few things; Are there going to be boxed copies or digital download code? if not, will perfect world prepaid cards be valid to pay for the game? if not to both, will it be on steam?

Boxed copies are a yes only for Germany and Russia so far. I am personally doubting we'll see Perfect World as one of the distributors this time, but it might be available - in which case maybe you could use a Perfect World prepaid card, though I'm not sure. Steam is a definite yes though. The most direct source of the game would be purchasing it directly from Runic's website though.

Hi, I want to ask if Berserker will be able to use "classic" melee weapons, or is he now a fist/claw user ?

Pretty sure every character can use any weapon as long as it meets the item's requirements.

With the exception of a few possible class-restricted items, classes can use anything. You want a dual wand-wielding Berserker? Go for it :P

Read on Joystiq that they gonna postpone it again so it will be out after Diablo 3. Why in the world do that?

That's not what Max said, he said that if Torchlight 2 is finished and they find that it is right when Diablo 3 comes out (or in other words, if they have the game finished a month and a week from now) they wouldn't release it then because it'd be a bad idea to release at exactly the same time.

Great update, Web!

Thank you for taking the time to do this on your day off. I especially love the subtext of exasperation you exhibited to all the trolls asking the same f....king questions every week with those first few updated posts.

Hysterical!

Just some proof reading, "Mac" should probably be "Max" under "When will the game be released?"

"Obvious" should be "obviously" under "Has the inventory system changed?"

Thanks. I get a bit loopy on the typing sometimes... my fingers have auto-complete. I'm going to bed now, but if I don't fix it before next week poke me with a fish.

I think that the Mac and the Windows version will not be release at the same time, am I correct? In any case, can I play the windows version and continue with those characters in the Mac version when release?

In Annoying Questions->Why didn't they release it before Diablo 3 is released and crushes their company?:

You say Diablo 3 has no skill or stat points, but it does have stat points. The player doesn't get to distribute them; they are auto-added every level up. They call them attributes instead of stats, but they are Strength, Dexterity, Intellect, and Vitality. Attributes can be boosted from items prefix/suffix, passive skills, and socketed gems. http://www.diablowiki.net/Attributes

Kalsten: we haven't had word on whether or not saves will be compatible cross platform this time.

Thander: you know exactly what that question is saying and are either nitpicking or trying to pick a fight. It's not changing.

Thank you :) But now that I am thinking, I think that, at least with the Steam version, the characters were compatible when saved on the Steam cloud (you know, now in Steam, when you close the game, they save the saved game in their servers). I think that it happens because I started to play on the Windows version, and few months ago I decided to try it on the Mac, and suddenly I had my old character in there (and they were in physically different computers).

Even so, I will await for a confirmation from the Runic people.

I'm just saying you should be truthful. "Diablo 3 has no stat points." is not a truthful statement. I'm buying both games, so I'm not really trying to defend Diablo 3. The way it is written just sounds like there is some bias. I am just trying to help improve it. No need for you to get angry.

Honestly whenever I read that annoying question section, I think it's an enlarged "apples, oranges, bananas, ugh why compare them. Just play em all." answer. Other than that taken into context, that section of the answer, it's implied that TL2 keeps tradition, D3 pretty much threw away everything traditional, so basically yea D3 has no stat points in the traditional sense.
