No. It's being realistic. If a company like Epic, who made one of the best-selling exclusive 360 titles ever (Gears of War), can't convince MS to allow PC-created mods to show up on 360, it makes me very doubtful that any company will.

but what if runic is the one who is doing the verification of it?

also, maybe if the mod system in TL is sufficiently diferend, that could be a factor (like, mods that hack into the game versus mods that simply "add" stuff based on the games own scripting engine [what TL does])

You really don't get it. It could be a perfect system and still MS wouldn't approve of it. Their bum is so tight if it passed gas, dogs would struggle to hear it. I think the Staffer has made the point abundantly clear that MS won't allow it, and there is no point in continuing to propose what if's. It's nice that you still think one person can change the world, but welcome to RL.

In regards to TL2 I was just hoping we would get some new news updates or footage, as the release is in May, correct? I can't wait and really wanna see more about it. I don't know if TL2 is considered a big enough deal to get featured at E3 or PAX East, but I didn't see anything about it, maybe I missed something? :D

Negative. The release has been pushed back from May and Runic hasn't confirmed a new date. If you're looking for new stuff they're releasing previews every other Friday leading up to E3. There are already two previews available here http://www.torchlight2game.com/ or if I may pimp Web's sight a bit, here http://www.runicgamesfansite.com/content/.

I prefer RGF, since Webbstre just posts what I need to know on the site.

I'd love to have Torchlight 2 on XBLA, but I suppose I would settle for gamepad support on the PC version. That would be alright also.

and WHY the hell exactly would a PC game that already has access to plenty of buttons you can use to play it support a secondary means of input? >_>

Ok, ok, let's not get platform parochial here. After all, the platform port of TL has probably made Runic as much 'survive and develop more' wherewithal in the 2 months since its release as real TL did from inception.

Besides, there are scads of younger people today that we want to play the game when it comes out...who only know how to type with their thumbs.

Well, considering the mouse and keyboard were designed as the default input...

The only games I like game pads for are Shooters and Racers.

Not platformers? That seems like the kind of game most suited to gamepads.

As far as shooters, for FPSes I very much prefer keyboard and mouse, but if we're talking the third person shooters with independent camera controls, then yeah, those are definitely better with gamepads.
...Unless you mean top-down scrolling shooters, in which case I have no preference (well, I guess I'd lean toward controller a little bit.) Dammit, shooter refers to too many things.

guys, TL2 aint even released for the PC

and you can bet on it that the releases are going to be the same, PC first, then mac, and THEN on the xbox, and even then, only if microsoft is willing to publish it like they did TL....

I was on the xbla forums for it and there is quite a few people upset with having to wait for the port (found this amusing) but there seems to be a big push by them for m$ to step in and try to get a same day release (found this amusing as well). So I think it's safe betting that TL2 will make it over to the XBLA, since there is a large player-base over there wanting it, but as everyone is saying it will be after the release on PC and probably mac. In the end it will come down to m$ being able to work with Runic though. (m$ = microsoft in case someone doesn't get it)

this has nothing to do with "being able", runic is more then willing to release TL2 for xbox (if they had a publisher for it, you'd even have TL for PS3)
this has everything to do with microsoft being WILLING to be the publisher for TL2 aswell, and if they dont, its bye bye TL2 for xbox....

PS: same release day aint going to happen, runic is to small to be able to develop more then 1 version of the game at the same time without making sacrifices, and we PC fans aint gonna let nobody hold TL2 for PC hostage >_> *glares evil-ish*

That's what I was referring to. I said it would happen as long as mircrosoft is able to work with Runic, because as you said Runic is more than willing to do it. If m$ isn't going to be the publisher then as you said the XBLA version will never happen, it all depends on what m$ does. If they demand something Runic isn't able to perform (such as a same day release) then I doubt it would work out well. Microsoft has shown many times that they have their own agenda and don't care about the Developer side of things and usually force them to do something they weren't originally going to do. That's why I said it would rely on m$ being able to work together with Runic.

Stop scaring me. Runic wouldn`t do the same mistakes they did with FSS. Like Max Schaefer said they are keeping things doable without killing themselves in the outcome. I trust them not to do big mistakes buisness wise, like in the past. They won`t sacrifice anything to push for a simultanious release. They`re too smart to put out another unfinished game. This talk about prolonged release dates is pointless.

Microsoft is coming out with Crimson Alliance on XBLA. However they need a killer app for winter promotion. So finish TL2 on PC then port it over to XBLA in Q4. Sorry but don't bother with PS3. Loads of problems with their network. Microsoft likes a winner and Torchlight has the goods.

don't expect TL2 on 360 by winter, because the Mac version is coming before any console ports

Exactly. When they say PC is still 'later this year' that to me means no earlier than September. Then there's Mac then I'm guessing it takes at least three or so months to get a console version working and that doesn't include Xbox certification.
