so am i to assume there isn't anyone specializing in ranged weapons (aside from spells)?

Uses a throwing "chakra" weapon if I am not mistaken.

That's basically a skill missile, I don't think it is a weapon you equip.

Outlander supposedly has some support for guns/bows though.

The outlander has both passive and active skills that utilize ranger weapons. If you look at the preview I wrote on RGF, you can look at the skills that she had available at PAX.
