The Respec Compromise *UPDATE!2* Not solved at all

The most fun I had in D2 was using the less than optimum builds for characters and taking them as far as I can go.

While I don't disagree that doing that can be a fun gaming experience, I do disagree with making your choice the only option for everyone (barring mods, of course). Respecs don't preclude "learning from mistakes", they simply make mistakes correctable via a means that is not punitive.

Me thinks full free respecs won't be in the game.
Me thinks respecs in general might not be either.
