What I found bit strange was amount of uniques found - 40 seems too much. Wonder what mods those uniques have - hope it's not just boosted magic item mods. Some new skills on unique set items would be nice - would spice up the hacking and slashing a bit.
Also first time I see spells mentioned again. Last time there were not even slots for placing spells on character.. so does anyone know if spells are done same way as in TL1 ?
How does this compare to the Diablo III loot game?
From what we know about Diablo III, the developers are trying to deincentivize boss runs. After the first kill, uniques will primarily drop from normal monsters. This means that loot will be much more spread out and less focused. If I was to make a mining analogy... Diablo III will be like strip mining and Torchlight II will be more like mining ore veins.

Over 1400, not sure if that includes sets, probably does.
JDwiker mentioned this.
Also, agree with Rusty.

While yes they are/were trying to "dincentivize" boss runs, the best loot is said to be gathered from Champions not normal monsters. This encourages exploration of the map instead of a mad rush to the boss.
Also now with the inclusion of the Nephalem Valor buff, you get a loot/gold buff for each champion that you kill which is applied to the boss. So the boss will still have the best loot drop after you have defeated the Champions and received the buff.
Nephalem Valor though is unlocked at 60 and does not apply to pre level 60, however still the best place for loot will be the Champions.

Holy c**p. I guess they will not all have unique art, and in game model
Then it's not much, if only 40 dropped.

adoomgod wrote:Back on topic. This has bothered me in every arpg actually. Equipment shops feel useless as you progress through the game, I mean they don't sell uniques. How about a set of 80 or so uniques that can ONLY appear in the town shops, and the odds of them being sold go up the more you buy from the store?
