the problem I have with fishing is that it seems so inconsequential. Temporary pet changes don't last long enough to be notable in the first TL, and for most people getting good fish isn't worth all the grief of sitting still and hoping two circles connect on the screen. I also think it would be better if fishing was an automatic thing based solely on chance, but I look at how fishing is done in other games that I like and I just don't feel like it fits in with the pace of Torchlight. You look at a game like Monster Hunter and sitting around waiting to fish is acceptable because hunting missions are around 50 minutes each and aren't constant action so there's a lot of room to just plop down with some bait to get good items that you'll actually use. On the other hand, with the hectic pace of TL2 looking even faster than the first I think it would just be frustrating to stop and fish. I still shudder when I think about all those times I tried fishing in the first TL, having those circles slowly close in... then suddenly back out right before getting to the point where you catch something. It was infuriating.

I see, well, better check the steam then. I never use steam actually, so I am not really sure how it works. But some of my friends if I recall pre-ordered Dota 2 already on steam, so I think it will be possible in my country to gain access to Steam, Buying physical copy will be very costly here, with all the customs and stuff, that's why I always preferred digital version when buying.

I do think that Titan Quest is great. I just never got the time to finish the game, but I will. The major issue with TQ is that the developer went out of business. I had the game for a long time but my old notebook could not run it well. That old notebook could run Torchlight.

If anyone has not tried Titan Quest they should check it out if you can find it at your local retailer. One of my friends bought it a few weeks ago for under $10 Canadian (expansion pack included).

The first Torchlight is not that large to hamper bandwidth but I do susspect that TL2 will be quite a bit larger in file size. How much more we will see. I am thinking it will be somewhat in comparison to D2 (with expansion pack LoD). Still that will not be that much of hit for bandwidth like quite a few games are becoming. The game I hate the most for bandwidth is Total War: Shogun 2. I recently reinstalled the game on my newer notebook. I have the game disks and it installed about 15 gigs from the disks and then before I could play I had to download an additional 10 gigs. That took about a week (I do have a high speed internet stick but quite often it is slower than Dial up) Played the game for about 2 hours and I made sure not to update the game. Steam did an update and reset the do not update the game and then you guessed it another update, this time 4.5 gigs. I have not downloaded that patch and might uninstall the game. Sorry for the rant on that.

Steam is alright. I will likely buy directly from Runic this time

I agree with Chthon, and even better, it would make a great game mechanic if activating the charge is done by the player, instead of just activating when its full (at least it looks like that in the videos). For example, to save the charge for the badass in a group of mobs.

I'm glad you agree with me, but I didn't say that -- xani did. However, I agree with xani, and you agree with xani, so we agree with each other through the transitive property. :D

At Runic Games today, someone observed that Torchlight II has over 1,400 unique items.

Nearly every last one of which I named.

As Omnifas said. I am always accurate. Remember that Dusho. Always. Except when I'm trolling. Or lazy. Or careless. Or just inaccurate.

JamusT wrote:We tried to give a few variants per skin tone but the faces are painted the on the skins. So as of right now to make it so you could match skin tones we would have to repaint each face for each new skin tone... Which would be a fair amount of work. More likely we would prefer make new skin and face variants instead to give more variety as opposed to color shifting art. Plus one of the things we tried to do was actually paint our new skins with more ethnic diversity than many games offer, in that I think we were pretty successful and not overly stereotypical or generic like many games now days.it's by no means perfect, but we want to give people more choices they can identify with, and compared to tl1 I think people will be happy with the new options.

I remember someone said that one of the devs likes to work on face and hair features as a bit of a break from his other tasks.

How many options do we have at the moment for face and hair? I know this number would likely change but am just curious about progress so far.

I don't care about hair/facial/skin colour customization because, honestly, how much time do you see the sking/face/hair of your character in T1? Only during the first levels until you get an armor, and for example, if you use helmet, forget even to see any skin at all.

I don't know even why they bother about it.

Keep in mind, however, that it's a proven fact: female Vanquishers and Ember-magesses don't like men with beards.

So if you're planning on gettin' busy with the missus (or missus-to-be ;) ) after a hard day of quest quenchin' and monster-killin', take five minutes and return to yonder lass well-shorn, my Young Masters of Mayhem. 8-)

Because not everyone feels the way you do.

That sounded like a lot to me too, so I just checked. It's true, there's well over 1400 uniques right now.
