But an in depth look at the remastered skill tree would be awesome. Now introducing so much versatility and panders to what ever the player wants to do that you can have an Iron Chef build with passives that make wielding frying pans and basters super beneficial, as well as hinting at a super secret Ninja, Pirate, Viking and Baby Sitter builds. Aw man im getting all excited just thinking about it. Seriously I would love a good look at all the talent trees, its the only way of deciding what class to do first. The first hour of the game I create and delete characters so many times just trying to think of what to do, not liking and starting over.

just feels like the longer they take the more chance for disappointment. people will expect a perfect game and thats just impossible. but keep on polishing and lets hope for the best when its released in september

I am. And I am also aware that there was no steam pre-order back then. BTW there was some "guesses" and estimates by Runic for even earlier release windows, as I recall... All of them were just guesses, no more. Like: "Maybe around january, but we haven't set an official date yet."

Putting up a steam pre-order with a specific window (summer 2012) is completely different. Why? Because it is not estimate, it is not guessing, it is a promise. You can pre-order the game, and give us your money, and the game will be released summer 2012. They have commited to a summer release, there is no way they can back out from this without looking REALLY bad.

And to be honest, I wouldn't even mind if the game would only come out next year. I'm fine with the "ready when it is ready" mentality, but we are way past that. It's now summer 2012. You can't make both at the same time. Don't make promises, if you can't keep them, it's that simple.

All that said, I'm not worried. I'm sure that we will have the game before the end of August, as they promised.

Lets hope it's not Torchlight is to be sold at GoG.com because would seem a "waste" of update.

If the company runs out of money and no new investors can be found, it just dies along with the company.

Don't fool yourselves, it CAN happen.

And it just might.

Not gonna happen.
So, Dec 2011 release was our target in trying to beat a certain game to market. When that didn't happen it became imperative that we didn't ship with similar issues.

...Runic making TOrchlight DRM-free isn't a big deal? Do you realize how big a freaking deal them going against the industry and making their game DRM free IS? It means they're siding with the consumer and not with the unfortunately common attitude within the industry that says you're pretty much asking to go out of business unless you put at least some kind of DRM in your game.

They're taking a huge chance, even tho it's sold a lot of copies already and been pirated millions of times. They're making a statement. They believe in their customers, they respect us. I'm hoping that this leads to them making all their games DRM free at some point. This just made MY day as not just a Runic fan but as a consumer who believes we should own the products we buy.

So yeah, i'm fine with this being the update.

And no second beta...why would they? That would mean even more time taken to release the game, anyways, so no thanks.

considering that people were pining for TL2 to be released on GoG, I'd say this should be a bigger deal that it is. Having the first game release on GoG is probably a test bed to see how popular the service is; if Runic decides they can get enough attention on GoG then maybe they'll release the second game on it too. At first I would have said it wasn't likely at all but now that they're actually using the service, there's a shot at it.

This should be a big deal for anybody who cares about the game. I know that there are a number of forum regulars here who stated that they would not buy TL2 unless it was DRM-free. Well, at some point it might be. Probably after the original release and maybe even the Mac OSX release is all well and done, but still.

I honestly don't follow the TL2 Thursday updates that much. There was that poll last week that was never on the main site, and that was nice but typically I don't really pay attention. I'm not sitting on the edge of my seat for the next update, rather. I just want the game to come out; I feel as if a lot of people probably don't care unless it's an announcement of a release date, unfortunately.

As I said before, the update is anything but a release date. You can translate that as "Nothing big" (and related to TL2).

DRM free? Boxed copy is DRM free. The digital version has generous activation limits that can be reset. TL2, a newer game, has DRM as the original digital version of TL1. So... what's the point that they are going to state with a DRM free digital version of TL (many bought it on its day, many got it for free from prepurchasing TL2 in Steam) in GoG? That it's an old enough game so it can be sold at GoG without the activation limits while they release the newer TL2 with that DRM? Don't get me wrong, I'll happily buy the GoG version one of these days to get rid of the activation limits and to throw some extra support to the nice people at Runic and GoG. But the statement could be perfectly and better done by releasing a DRM free TL2. Which they won't and I respect their decission (and glad that they choose something nice, unlike Steamworks) but they aren't doing like the guys of CD Projekt RED that released The Witcher 2 without any kind of DRM in GoG (altough I heard something of a publisher forcing DRM for the physical copies?).

I honestly wouldn't mind a second beta if they feel there are some big systems that need tweaking. :)

"Similar Issues", huh? Come on, spill it! We wanna get the transcripts to the discussions you guys had on that "certain game"s issues as you so delicately put it.

Oh, never mind. No point in spelling out what so many of us now painfully know. ;)

Please release this game before Borderlands 2. No games to play during summer right now.

Signed! The other ones, like Borderland 2, Path of Exile, Grim Dawn are coming mid August/September/Autumn...
Fingers crossed for late July release! Torchlight 2 will probably be the one and only (beside D3) coop Hack 'n Slay "ARPG" this >Summer<

Really? The gameplay is totally different, and Borderlands was very underwhelming in many departments, IMHO. I'd rather play a real shooter than this... The only good thing Borderland had going for it was the art design, but even that god old pretty quick as all areas look similar.

Please, no. I wouldn't have enough time to play Endless Space (finally gone gold) and SoaSE: Rebellion. :D

I would be happy with a new wallpaper or two.

Grim Dawn currently has an estimated release date of August 2013 and Path of Exile is simply transitioning to open beta in September (I won't harp on the fact PoE still needs a lot of work). As for Borderlands 2, I'll pass. The first one bored me to tears.
