Release date, hopefully before Borderlands 2 release.

Postby Psijudge » Sat Jul 21, 2012 9:20 pm

I love Torchlight and I have been dying to play Torchlight 2.
My Steam pre-order is already in, but if it comes out after the 17th of September, I am going to be getting my murdering on in Borderlands 2...

[sarcasm on] Runic please release the game before 21st of December because I want to play it before the Apocalypse comes. I don't want TL2 to become post-apocalyptic entertainment.
Seriously though, why can't people play more than one game at a time?

With the Steam sale currently going on I've picked up soooo many cheap-o filler games that it's making my head spin trying them all out :? There is something to be said for totally immersing yourself in one game for awhile, but I've always found that the most I can sustain that is about a month and a half before I need to pull myself away and try something fresh.

I guess it all comes down to what your personality is. Some people have more tolerance for the one game and one game only experience than others.

Well...my copy of Torchlight 2 is bought, so if they came out together that just means less time for life. Life is boring anyways.

I'll likely play Borderlands 2, but with the amount of polish going into Torchlight 2, I'd better be able to see my reflection in it upon release :)

The problem is that I like them all too much :D Plus there are still so many more still on my radar for when I feel like new challenges - plus all the ones I already own that I like to dust off and replay.

I'm sure Torchlight 2 will be near the front of my playlist for quite some time, but I will be shuffling things up constantly even then.

There have been a number of iterations during Torchlight 2's development. Here are the four development stages the game has undergone.

This was the first. As you can see, it was only the beginning and needed a lot of work.

Now came the second stage. We're getting there, but parking Torchlight 2 under a tree would ruin it!

Onto the third. The game is really starting to take shape now, just imagine that glossy sheen!

And finally (I think), the last stage which is where we are right now. She looks tremendous at this point, the reflections are fuggin insane

Rumors of the game needing a further 4 stages for waxing are totally unfounded at this point.

"Runic, please release the game before [enter random date] because that is when [enter random game] is coming out and I won't have time for Torchlight 2!"

It's always the same line, only with slight variations each time.
"I didn't want to kill all those monsters, believe me! But the way they looked at me with their pleading eyes-I really had no choice!"

who says borderlands 2 will be better? because its $60? Who says GW2 will be better? because its an MMO? For me both those games will take a back seat to TL2. If this isnt your favorite genre then TL2 release is your problem not theirs.

People are acting like this is some trash Ipad game that takes a backseat to EVERYTHING else coming out. its not.
Yay, TL2!!!

Don't count on it, boo.

Just play Borderlands 2 and return to TL2 once TorchEd comes out. It'll always be here.

I am afraid that last stage probably included very complex pet testing which resulted in game being postponed.

Careful with spoiler, what you will see - can't be unseen.

Yeah...I think people are looking at the price and thinking..$20 game? Oh..well, why is it taking so long, then? Despite the fact that that sort of thing might have been true back when 'good' games were around $50 and 'cheap' games were $20 and 'crappy' games were usually in the bargain bin at $9.99, but Steam has been selling really great games for really low prices for years now. This '$20 games are crappy games' stuff is nonsense. It was only a matter of time before developers and publishers started realizing that low entry price point for new games doesn't necessarily devalue your ip. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it adds even more value to your ip. Eventually, more and more people will learn that price doesn't necessarily affect quality.

OMG, are we going to have to see 50 threads on "Must release before xxx" for every new game that anyone might buy/spend some time on between now and whenever T2 is ready for debut?

If the moderators don't start locking any thread that starts "XXX is coming" upon its first appearance, I may have to leave.

Why are some people always assuming everyone is a nolifer and can play games all day and night? Look, there are people who do have a job or a family or something like that. So yeah, some people might actually not have time to play two of those rather time consuming games and will have to decide which game they're going to play. So while posting about it indeed doesn't really serve a purpose you could just stay out these threads instead of posting how stupid, pointless and annoying they are.

Just play Borderlands around November, it'll require some patches, it's a Gearbox game.
