Spells and pets

Postby MenaceRx » Sun Sep 23, 2012 11:23 pm

I am trying to determine if I place a passive spell in my pets inventory if it counts or not toward my stats..

We were discussing this in another thread, seems like those skills shouldn't be learnable by pets, doesn't it?

that vendor spell that makes more efford for selling items. does this need to learn my pet, in case of i send it from dungeon into town
to sell off. or is it enought to have this skill at my character only.
if my pet learns the spell and my character not, does it makes a difference if i sell items from my inv or from pets inv?

They don't apply to you directly. So the vendor spell you don't want to give to your pet, and the adventurer spell won't give you bonus experience and potion efficiency. However, magic and gold find are calculated based on you and your pet, so in that special case it works.

In that case, why would anyone ever use the vendor and adventurer passive?

I think you need separate slots where you can only put in fluff spells like rumble, vendor, etc, otherwise, there's no reason for them to even exist.

Ahhh thanks for the clarification :D

Any chance of getting either an indicator on the spell whether it does anything on the pet or not, or (better yet) only allow pets to learn the spells there's a benefit from? Because there's currently really no way for a player to know this :)

first, thank you for the answer

but then i dont understand why the pet can lern the spell if the spell has no effect. no one knows that coherence and i think a lot use this because its passiv. please fix it anyway.

First thank you for the official technical answer. And I agree in a future patch it would be nice if a spell just recieved a red x in the corner if it can not be equiped by the pet to gain its use. Just like equipment does. Thank you again.

So the pet's TreasureHunting would stack with your TreasureHunting even if they were the same level?

Yes, however, this is more of a special case - not all passive skills on the pet apply to the player.

Let me see if i got this right now:

Hero with vendor spell, hero selling/buying items: works perfectly.
Pet with vendor spell, hero selling/buying items: doesn't work
Hero with vendor spell, pet buying/selling items: doesn't work (*)
Pet with vendor spell, pet buying/Selling items: works perfectly.

I'm still not sure about that one.

^ Yes, indeed. Including the not sure part. I think it doesn't apply but I'm not 100% positive on it.
