Elemental damage affecting weapon based skills

Postby RetsReds » Mon Sep 24, 2012 3:42 am

Well, I assume this has already been discussed but I couldn't seem to find the answer I'm looking for by searching so I thought I should just ask.

How exactly does weapon damage bonuses affect weapon dependent skills? Like Ember Hammer for example? It says it deals electrical damage, does that mean that Focus, Fire n Spark or Elemental Overload increase its damage? I got an Elemental Overload spell scroll and I tried using it with EH but I didn't get any conclusive answers. So does it have an effect on weapon based skills or does it just affect the elemental component of the skill (if there is any) like the fire damage in Emberquake for example?

It affects the elemental damage component. For many skills, all they have is elemental damage. You can tell if they say does X% weapon DPS as <element>. If they just say does X% weapon DPS without "as <element>", then they are doing physical and won't be affected by elemental boosts.

Ember Hammer, for example says it does DPS as Electric, so all of the damage is electric and would be affected by any elemental damage boosts including Focus.

Emberquake would only be partially affected since it's doing some elemental and some physical.
