Enchantment on my legacy after retiring

Postby sacha193 » Thu Apr 05, 2012 2:30 am

Could this new enchantment fail ? May it even result in the removal of those already cast on my sword, like it often happens in the sanctuaries and with the sorcerer called Goren ? Or, otherwise, is it each time a success ? That would be great to give it the name of its ancient owners, and even greater if it could keep strengthening by the time. Because it now has 68% chances for the casts already bewitched on it to disappear, yet. And I'd be glad not to waste my actual character AND my blade.

The retirement enchantment never fails. But it can all be stripped if you do the enchanter again.

No, I mean if you fail an enchantment on the item, it can still be wiped of everything.

Sacha,

In this case "Stripped" or "Wiped" means to be ERASED. All the enchantments go away. Everything. The item is not magical anymore.

Sacha,
One more IMPORTANT caution on your choice of heirloom item.

DO NOT heirloom any item that has a +HP benefit.

There is a bug, which has not been feasible to fix, which will cause the +HP value to inflate vastly the first time the new owner of the item gets promoted a level.
Your character might survive the first increase, and in fact will become near invincible due to the huge amont of Health points. However, the value will keep increasing, as you get promoted and sometimes, I believe, when you restart the game, and within 2-3 promotions the +HP value will reach the arithmetic buffer limit of the game/OS. The value will then show up as negative, the game will lock up, and the character and all carried gear will be unrecoverable. You may have to reinstall the game from scratch.

Now, part of the kicker here is that it is very unusual to manage to get high levels (15 layers +) on an item, especially armor, without being blessed with a +HP enchantment. So your choices of what are the feasible items to Heirloom may narrow dramatically. I would be very surprised if your 68%-to-fail item doesn't have a great big +HP bonus among its affixes. Sorry.

Now he will have to use Google translate :)
Sorry for OT
I never had the problem that dreamrider wrote about, and i have Armor that is used by 5th character in a row already, and has 56% of failure (it has bonus of +1298 HP and it is NOT increasing).
Maybe it is ONLY XBOX bug?

No, it is only an Heirloom / Retiring-the-character bug.
I have never seen any one write of it being sporadic. Search on 'heirloom' and you will get a lot of hits where forum folks speak of it.

When you say you have armor used by a 5th character, did you actually designate that armor as your retiring character's Heirloom, by giving it to the NPC Goldenrod while Retiring your previous character?

BTW, the Chance to Fail Enchantment doesn't matter in this circumstance, since Heirloom increases are a completely different improvement mechanism, and never fail.
