My first post, I have a major concern with TL2

Postby DrakesInception » Sat Jun 02, 2012 3:40 pm

Hey guys, this is my first time making a post on this forum. I'm very excited for Torchlight 2, but I have a somewhat major concern and I'm not sure if it's already been addressed or not. In Diablo 2, you could play offline single player and connect to battle.net through "Open" bnet. In Open battle.net, everyone brought hacked items into the game from single player, but it didn't ruin the experience because Open and Battle.net were separate from each-other. Is this the case with Torchlight 2? Or is there only one online option, where everyone will have the ability to bring hacked and/or modded items into the game?

Torchlight II will be LAN, offline single player or online peer to peer matchamaking via a Runic Games account (tho Runics server is for authentication only). There is no bnet style server. Runic is providing us with tools to block players. Modded characters cant join unmodded games and vice versa. There WILL be ways for people to hack (there already are) since everything is saved locally on your computer, which is why Runic has stressed that multiplayer should be played with people you know and trust.

Excellent answer Zidders! In answer to the second question posed by "Thomas Paul" yes this is a sequel of TL. It also only a PC game currently although it will be ported to Mac soon after release and perhaps Xbox (there has been no definite answer on Xbox though).
