magma spear dot, fire brand

Okay, so everyone has been saying that the effect of fire brand doesn't proc from the dot of magma spear.
However, from what I have seen it does seem to work. But, since everyone is saying that it doesn't I think
I may just be mistaken. So here is what i see. Let's say i hit the dummy with a magma spear for the first time, it
will do about 500 damage. Then when I hit the dummy with magma spear from that point on (during the dot) i
see an extra 1000-3000 damage. Then when the dot ends, the first hit with magma spear doesn't have the extra
damage. So, if this isn't because of fire brand can somebody plz tell me what it is from?

fire brand adds explosion animation on emeny.

lol i nvr noticed the explosion until u pointed it out. But, i tried it right now and when using magma spear there is indeed an explosion effect. So....do you guys see the explosion effect as well?

maybe it is a effect from wand chaos? this passive skill can cast normal burn effect on enemy

hmm I don't have wand chaos. So when you do this you don't see the animation?

hm... don't know, maybe it is only my problem with fire brand animation.

the explosion you see is from fire brand going off, wand chaos causes a different looking animation.

youll see the explosion from fire brand go off if the DoT from magma spear is on the target already.

I was testing this on the target dummy and if you watch his debuffs you'll see the 3 (or 6) second burn effect on him, any magma spear during those 3, 6 seconds of burning will proc the extra nuke from fire brand.
