We've delivered versions to other vendors as well, and will keep you up-to-date on how that is progressing as we get information.
Thanks for your patience as we've wrangled this patch out the door!

Note that the Runic Games version is now a workable Demo - you can play for 2 hours.

As mentioned in the post above - you MUST use the version from the vendor you purchased from.

You will need to uninstall the old build. However you should NOT have to re-enter your activation code - it should just remain unlocked.
If you end up having a problem and you DO have to re-activate, email us and we'll get you sorted out.

The patch is really a full game replacement. Because the base file package ( most of the filesize ) was TOTALLY replaced, it's really just the whole game again. In fact, it is slightly larger, because the precompressed zip file doesn't compress as well the second time out when making the installer.

You WILL have to get the patch from the distributor you got your copy from - they each have their own DRM, so you'll need to get an update from them. We'll do everything we can to make sure they've got the materials they need, but I can't make any guarantees for how long an individual partner will need to get a build up.

Also, please note that I am an idiot, and that even though this is version 1.12, you will see a 1.11 in the bottom right corner of your main screen.

Hello,

as long as it works, who cares what the version number tells. ;)

It's just to hope that the next patch might detect this one correct without another full download/reinstall.

Other than that: Good work.. I'm downloading it right now and it loads with a nice speed there in germany.. not to mention we have 8 am there now and I didn't really expect it to come today. :mrgreen:

Yes, our aim/hope for subsequent patches would be for them to be 'normal'.
This one was a bit of an exception, because the whole package changed, and we didn't want to delay the patch to build a new installer to 'patch' it.

hello,

yes i purchased my game from this site. i downloaded the "patch" from this site. I uninstalled the game ... stating i wish to save my saved games. The "patch"installed, I launched my game ... and no old characters... bleah

fun game though

that was a good decision, I guess.. 400 Mb ain't that much to download if we judge that this is a actually download-only game and there are some games that have really patches that size.. ;)

I've read about and made the repackaging of the Pak.zip myself (improved the loading times drastically), I still wonder a bit how a .zip that's uncompressed and non-corrupt (no crc errors, data faults or anything like that) with 3 different file archiver programs can create longer loading gaps than the repacked slightly compressed one.. (which even needs more cpu load to extract them).

Anyways, good work it's available so quick.. Like 1 week from release to now and much bugs fixed (the game itself is pretty stable under different conditions even in the release version which wondered me as well, this ain't usual thosedays..) - I would wish to see that on some onlinegames WITH monthly paying customers more often.. :mrgreen:

Edit: Didn't notice deleted savegames after I unchecked the check boxes.. Weird. Better just copy the folder "torchlight" before you reinstall it to be 100% on the safe side.
Edit 2: Yes, we have to reenter the serial (even after unchecking the "delete configuration data"-Checkbox) but the activation works flawless with the original key. So no real problem imho.

I had to re-activate, but I used my key and it worked just fine. Is that okay?

Sorry, I forgot to add. Thank you to Runic Staff for working so hard on this patch. I've seen you guys up all day and night replying to posts and working hard on this. Much respect not only as a customer, but as someone who wants to achieve that kind of work ethic as well.

Make sure its the torchlight folder in the %appdata% path, thats where the saved games are, not in the program files tree.

Hello,

yep, I know the path - delete of savefiles didn't occur for me.. (after unchecking) were ready after game was started, checked them manually too - Even configuration file was still there, just had to reenter the key (like everyone).

Steam is more awesome than us, I think it's just going to take care of you. I'll keep you posted when the Steam build goes live though.
