Mod to tone down (NOT silence) the Golem's footsteps?

Postby Ildamos » Thu Jul 12, 2012 2:19 am

I've already found this:

http://www.runicgamesfansite.com/downlo ... ile&id=277

but it says that it will eliminate the sounds the golem makes altogether, something I do not want. Is there a way to tone down the construct's footsteps?

Thanks!

Hi Ildamos. The most direct route is to replace the sound files with softer versions of the same sound.

1. Find "pak.zip" in your TL install folder and open it up with an appropriate archiving software (winzip, winrar, 7zip, etc.)

2. Navigate to the "media\sounds\Character\Mechdwarf" sub-folder and extract the following files:
mechdwarfrunair1.wav
mechdwarfrunair2.wav
mechdwarfwalkair1.wav
mechdwarfwalkair2.wav
mechdwarfwalkstepleft.wav
mechdwarfwalkstepright.wav

3. Use your Windows Sound Recorder accessory to adjust the volume of these files to whatever level you want.

4. Put these edited files into a series of folders like this:
MainFolder\media\sounds\Character\Mechdwarf\
where "MainFolder" can be any name you want.

5. Put the "MainFolder" folder into your TL mods directory.

That oughtta do the trick :)

You can also edit the volume in their .DAT files. Though I'm not privy to which one is it. Peeking into media/sounds folder gives "footsteps.dat" and "monster.dat". My guess is it's "monster.dat" since it contains all the sounds referred to by Phanjam.

That mod was actually one of my most favourite, the golem walking sound was simply unbearable.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.
