Kinda how I feel, too. I mean...eh, it's a cool game but the areas are all so dark and dingy. This is what i'm worried about with Grim Dawn. I dunno..I think Torchlight's colorfulness has spoiled me. lol.

I don't mind it being grim or dark, its uninspiring on another level altogether. There is nothing in it that makes me want to come back to play. Not characters, not gear, neither skills, not story, not combat and definitely not that weird shiny glass look on every damn pixel in the game. Maybe it is as you said Zid, that TL has spoiled us but here in this case, I think its more than that.

Ok obviously didn't see this thread..

I don't know how you can be an ARPG fan and not be excited about this game. I'm a big TL1 fan, played (& still play) D3 beta, etc. Had an absolute blast with this game over the weekend.

Gear does not look that very exciting, I agree. Then again, does D3 gear look good? I don't think so.
For me it's all about the stats/mechanics. And unique items in PoE (orange ones) are actually very well designed.

I like the graphic design, the music, the ambient sounds, etc. And combat/loot/grind is done right, no matter how you look at it.
The design is very different from TL but then again, diversity is good. It's darker than D3.

Then again, to each his own... But some comments in this thread make me wonder why you guys even like ARPGs :) Agree with most of what DarkTails said though.

Speak for yourself. If I don't like CoD or any modern shooter, I am not allowed to like any FPS game ? Liking "what" exactly, makes you like a genre eh ? Who sets this standard and by what authority ? Please tell me. I might have been wrong all these years since you certainly seem more knowledgeable

I can safely say that as someone's who has probably sunk more time into this game than anyone else on the forums (been playing the beta off and on since last September), the game has flaws...all of which I already mentioned. Comparing the gear aesthetics in PoE to D3 is laughable - you clearly must have missed all the D3 armor news over the past year...the links below show some pretty standout and visually unique armor set looks in D3. Whether they appeal to ones taste or not is a personal preference.

My toons in PoE look just as drab and brown at level 1 as they did at level 60. Again, my hope is that the armor visual aesthetics of end-game gear is compelling once the game is complete and out of beta. But until then, I stand behind my criticism.

Not regurgitating the rest of my previous posts here - go back and re-read them.

This is a F2P game. All characters looks same, because if you want to look different and have epic looking armor on you, you'll need to pay. How do you think they gonna get some money for this game? Same will be for skill effects.

lol, you always so bitter? Bad day?

It's not like there's thousands of isometric ARPGs out there... I like what Grinding Gear Games is trying to do. According to my own, personal opinion, they understand what makes an ARPG fun/addicting.

But whatever, fuck this, you guys clearly have your mind made up.

It has nothing to do with me having a bad day or being my mind made up or not. I don't understand when people act like they have some authority over a genre or something that "You have to play X to like the genre Y" or "ZOMG how you can't like this game when you like this genre". I clearly didn't like PoE as many others didn't too. Some of us liked it. Yet no one did bring up those asinine comments as yours. You like a game, fine. It doesn't imply however that who don't like it have some sort of problem with their heads.

That was sudden and slightly belligerent. Seems as though somebody certainly has their mind made up. I'm not sure why you feel the need to try to force your opinion on others.

Whoa whoa whoa everyone chill out, sheesh. It's just a game. I like PoE. It might not be cartoony or have flashy stuff but it's got great combat and I love the skill tree. It's just that i'm spoiled. I love me my pretty gear and love my pistolas. It's ok to not like things or disagree lets just try to back off a bit and not be dicks to each other.

Right, anyways.

For those that liked the game, it's time to throw some money at GGG:

Based on those point-to-price ratios, I'd be so pissed if cash items cost like 200 points and up  I'm not familiar with how pricing for digital items is set, but from what I've witnessed watching old friends play MMORPGs with cash shops, the developers would do well to price most things low to get players impulse buying. Had a friend who would laugh at cash items that cost $5 but he had no problem buying $20 worth of cheaper items!

Anyway, I'm saving my paypal money for TL2 so PoE will have to wait until I see some major updates for it. The skill system was fun to customize in the little time I had and would definitely like to tinker with it some more.

The only things available now are extra character slot and extra stash tabs, which are 30 points each.

So their microtransaction policy seems to be really rather fair :D

Good find Ferdinand, thanks for sharing! Personally, I think this is a great way for people who enjoy PoE and the devs to support them as they prepare to launch their game in the coming months. Plus, those kiwi pets are SO cute! :o :D

If I had a spare 1000 dollars to really waste.... I'd give it to Runic.
If i had 2000 I'd get the diamond kiwi and help PoE dev's fix some stuff about the game.

Yeah, I agree. $1,000 is too rich for my blood...but some of the cheaper options ($15 for ex) are nice. Hopefully some video game philanthropists will give them some big bucks.

There's plenty of people willing to throw around that much money surprisingly. All my spare cash right now is saved up for GW2 and TL2 so they'll have to wait a bit for me as well.

Speaking of GW2, I wish their stupid RSS feed would actually work for once. I never get any updates in my reader. When they announced beta signups I didn't even know until someone else told me, and I check their site pretty frequently.
