Yeah, the fact that TL2 is being released after D3 has already affected how the game impacts me personally.

The plan for me was always, if TL2 comes out, buy it and play it as a timesink for D3. If D3 comes out first, wait for TL2 to go on steamsale then pick the game up then.

You can pretty much guarantee that come the holiday season, Steam will have TL2 on sale for at least 50% off. Granted, it's only a 20 dollar game, but I have no intention of paying full price on a game I would hardly play when I'm already playing D3. However, if TL2 came out before D3 did, (even if it was only 1 week earlier) I'd have paid full price for it just to bide my time for D3.

I honestly believe Runic shot themselves in the foot and lost out on a lot of potential profit by not getting the game out before D3. If they honestly believe D3 won't have an impact on their sales, then they're delusional.

Again, I have every intention of picking up both D3 and TL2, but I'm not paying full price for TL2 unless it comes out before D3 and the chances of that happening now are slim to nil.

I think Runic would rather release a good game that people will play for awhile, instead of a crappy, rushed, unfinished game that people are only going to play for 2-3 weeks until D3 comes out

So basically, you wouldn't hesitate to spend $20 on TL2 to only play it for a few weeks before D3 but won't spend $20 after D3 since...you won't be able to play it enough to be worth $20?

Gotta love the horrible logic and contradictory statements people express on the internet.

I agree. May 15 is right around the corner. If Torchlight 2 isn't worth $20 to you now it might never be. I don't really like the notion that Torchlight 2 is just a coffee table game meant to stave off RPG withdrawal until Diablo 3. Hopefully Runic can prove to everybody that the game can stand on its own merits, and then we'll see whether people are really hurting for $20 or not.

Yeah uhm, in case people haven't noticed, TL2 wasn't made to be D3 crap filler. We want the game to stand on its own, and so does Runic.

Besides, speaking personally here, D3 has no steampunk. ;)
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,

Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

I would rather release it done at the risk of selling less copies over releasing it out of fear alone and regretting it forever.

The funny thing is that I don't think you have anything to fear Mr Baldree. ;)

I have faith that TL2 will do very well if the game is released when it is ready.

Does anyone have any idea if a person buy D3 DVD in US and tries to install and play it over in South Asia (specifically India), would it work ? The reason being this: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=22339#p201489
is happening with a friend of mine and has happened with me. Blizz support is telling him to ask someone in US to create another account, pay for D3 digital version and then pass along the sign in creds to him :-/ Which is more of a patchwork than an actual solution. He did find a DVD version here: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-7s- ... -3pxu.html
but is skeptical about region policies. I am asking here just in case anyone can shed more light on this. Thanks

It may cause issues if the US version disk can only installed on English PC. If it is Vista/Windows 7 than it should not cause that much of an issue for different regions. On XP you would likely need a program called AppLocale http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... x?id=13209

As far as I know D3 will be playable in all regions of the world but the Real Money Auction House will be tied to your region. I do not know if it is based on the location the Game is bought or based on your B-net account location.

Thanks for the info D2 and Brixtan. I passed it on to him and he is still confused :? He'll probably end up doing what Blizz support told him to initially. I have already told him to f-off and buy TL2 instead when it comes out but he doesn't listen

Slightly on topic: Here in India almost all Windows version are in English and similarly almost everyone who uses them knows english too. Infact the medium of teaching in schools is english so almost everyone kinda knows it ;) So language is not a problem while playing any games. Moreover, Valve and Origin support local CCs and Origin even has a localized version (overkill I'd say). Dunno why Blizz/battlenet is so annoying

Didn't want to buy Diablo 3 because I think Torchlight 2 is a better game but I found it at 34€ on Amazon uk so I did it !
As a player of Diablo and Diablo 2 I was going to buy it anyway and knowing blizzard will not be cheaper than this for years.. btw the most feature tl2 is lacking and D3 have is secure server, personally I don't care about modding or offline play so it's easy for me to prefer battle.net ( oh god what I'm saying :? ).

So.. I will busy with Diablo3 ( I hope I don't like to waste money ), than Guild Wars 2 and in the meantime I'm on Dota2 too..
And Torchlight2? seem like I will buy it on Christmas sale on steam :|
