PSO 2

Postby Heatinmyharbl » Thu Jun 21, 2012 12:02 am

Hey all, new to this forum, figured I'd bring a little of my gaming history along.

Anybody else here played Phantasy Star Online in the past? Absolutely LOVE these games, and just wondering if anybody is joining the open beta that started tonight.

Leave a post and let me know!

As of now the beta is unfortunately only in Japanese, so this site is your best friend to register/download/read menus etc:

http://bumped.org/psublog/pre-open-beta ... -online-2/ : Menu and whatnot guide if you decide to play

OOH! ME!

I've been wanting to play PSO 2. I know other people who are interested in it too; we used to play Blue Burst on private servers. I only got into the series as recently as four or five years ago though. I have the DS game and the second PSP one too, though I don't play them anymore and I never got to lv100+. :p

I've played the hell out of pretty much all of them, save for dreamcast. Gamecube Ep. 1+II, PC, official PSO: Blue Burst, the schthack private server blue burst. LOVE em. If you decide to get in on the beta, lemme know dude.

Cool to see this. I know a lot of people were crushed when the PSO servers closed.

I'll definitely try to get in on the PSO2 beta action when I can. I don't need a Japanese credit card/home address or anything like that to sign up do I?

Me and a couple online friends used to play SCHTHACK, but dropped off a few years ago and from what I've been told they nerfed everything. :/

I have vague memories of playing PSO on... Dreamcast, I think? Never played it online, so I do remember that I could never complete a particular escort mission involving a raft and a big boss. :|

As for this beta, I'm gonna have to pass on principle- even if I had a cheat sheet on-hand, can't bring myself to play a non-localized game. :?

But hey, whenever it gets a proper localization and is available in the States, I'll be jumping aboard, no doubt.

The problem with playing a game which you can't read, I have no idea what client orders are or how to get them.

This site got all the guides you could need.

Start learning katakana too! It really helps.

This website basically makes this game playable where before it was pretty un-playable lol. Not understanding any of the quest directions is not a good base for finishing quests. XD

yeah so I'm getting error 434 and it's infuriating. Going to try and redownload/install the client, because I KNOW it's not my ISP because my brother can play on his computer, and I doubt it's the firewall.

I heard Ship 2 is full. I haven't made a character yet. You guys still got room on ship 10? :(

Last time I played all the ships were registering "normal" but that was like two days ago. Keep in mind that they limited character creation for a little while because all the ships were getting too busy. You shouldn't have any trouble playing now - especially if you're not in Japan, you won't be playing at peak times anyway.

My character is on ship 02, currently I'm a lv7 (heh) force named タトナス
If you see the only male newman in the game on ship 02 occasionally spouting both japanese and english, that'll be me :P

I dont have anyone to play with at the moment though. I got a friend in Japan but he hasn't been on since day 1 and another friend that uses Windows 8 (with which GameGuard is not compatible, so be wary).

I really like the game, but I donno... I've played soooooooooooo much PSO, it's hard to just dive in and play. I almost got that sweet staff in the chapter 1 matter board, though!

I'm going to keep trying to get into ship 2, because i already know two other people who are playing there... but that's if I can even get the damn game to work first.

I forgot the game uses Gameguard, so it might actually be a conflict with a firewall/antivirius after all. Ugh. Do I really have to turn this stuff off?? What a pain in the ass.

Honestly, the game seems different enough in a myriad of ways to make it worth playing over PSO. Much love to BB, but the game's really dated at this point. After I played PS Zero with dodge-rolling, I couldn't go back to Blue Burst lol. I didn't play Universe but I played PSP2, and they add in a lot of meta-elements like rooms and stuff (that in PSO2 you have to pay for, but whatever). There's just a lot more depth to the game than in the original PSO I feel, and combat is flashier/fluffier.
