For the people who are still whishing to play a Hack'n'slash developped as a true multiplatform application, try Spiral Knights and you can also register for the closed beta of Drakensang Online.

The first one is available for free if your a casual player, if you really want to play it and get nice item faster then you'll have to pay. Depends if you're addicted to the game or not. Run very fine on low hardware and the graphics are very good. This is a MMO hack'n'slash.

Why did you come and rez the thread just to advertise this? If I'm not mistaken there are already threads about those games on the boards, you could of emphasized it there OR you could of made Linux versions of the threads.

Now what's going to happen is some stupid schmucks are going to read this title in the off topic since it's now been brought to the top and think Linux ver of Torchlight and the whole damn thing will start all over again.

Frankly I think the mods need to lock the topic with the response that has already been said many a time, that way in case someone does find the thread, they know.

Sorry I have'nt checked the rest of this forum.
I follow only one topic out there and I though taht I could give some hint to other GNU/Linux users that some other solutions exist.

But if you want to lock this topic, please do.

Nah, it's fun to watch Linux users. Did you mention that Spiral Knights has a ton of work left? I'm not going to say it's bad; I play it, and enjoy it. But it feels more like an open beta, with nobody on the dev team talking to the players...

I agree it has a lot of work left but still I enjoy it. My first three hours let me think that the game is addictive.
The alchemy system is interesting.
I already played lot of games that looks like they have never left their beta phase, for instance Dofus in which I spent hundreds of hours (until they use AIR).
Though that's a good thing that there still romm for improvment, Torchlight is in the same case of Beta.
The second one will add what the first one is critically missing and it is not such of a big deal, the game is still good; the next one will be better.

I wish more people recognized this.

I doubt this thread will ever be locked. It's easy to just keep it all in one thread, rather than a new topic every time.

Exactly. I'm sure that one day, Runic will be able to port to Linux. But not yet.

That's what I hope too.
Some games are not aging too much, take for instance Diablo 2.
Maybe one day Runic will open the sources and the community will do the work.

+1
I will not be buying a Windows or Mac version as I do not have and have not had those systems in many years. This includes if the Linux version is bundled with another version (as in, I'm not buying a Windows/Linux CD). Its %100 Linux or nothing.

Look, the trap worked! We lured another Linux user here and kept them from making a new thread! Now to devour his/her soul!!!!

Seriously though, this has been covered time and time again. This isn't a company that has the luxury to be able to make a Linux port. That's the end of it.

Why of course. They obviously don't pay attention to the rotting bodies located inside the trap.

I'd understand wanting a game ported to linux, but refusing to buy a game even *if* it has a linux port but it's part of a CD with the windows version is...just stupid (for lack of a better term).

Linux is just not a gaming platform and I don't see it as being one any time soon. It has too many versions that are way to inconsistent due to the way they are created. It'd be like making a game that *only* works with Windows 98, there's just no money in it.

(Of course I think I'm the only one that has bothered to reply seriously to the trap thread)
