TorchlightCam is a stand alone application to enable camera control in latest Torchlight v1.15 game (much like the previous TorchCam tool did for previous Torchlight game versions).

DEMO! >> VIEW TORCHLIGHTCAM IN ACTION ON YOUTUBE! << DEMO!

UPDATED VERSION 1.02 RELEASED!!
New features in 1.02:

  • Better camera control. You can now set the view angle (default keys are Page Up / Page Down, see the TorchlightCam.ini for more details)

New features in 1.01:
  • Support for Torchlight 1.12b
  • C++ 2008 dll runtime libraries not required anymore (This should fix win7 and xp problems)

Thanks
  • Special thanks for the original TorchCam developer for showing the community and mod makers what can be done with the Torchlight game.
  • Also very special thanks for the amazing testers and nice people at Torchlight forums for helping me to test and make this app perfect!
  • Please note that TorchlightCam developers are not connected with TorchCam developer in any way and the applications are completly different.
Image
  • Support for Torchlight v1.12b/v1.13/v1.15 retail and v1.15 steam versions
  • Left/Right arrow keys to rotate view
  • Up/Down arrow keys to zoom in/out
  • Page Up/Page Down keys to raise/lower camera (change the view angle)

  • Control key to activate mouse rotation (can also be used to disable automatic mouse rotation temporally)
  • Middle mouse button to activate direct mouse rotation

  • End key to reset zoom
  • Z key to disable all features temporally
  • Automatic zoom, rotation and view angle reset when entering new areas/maps

All features and all key mappings can be customized by modifying the included TorchlightCam.ini file. Remember to reload the TorchlightCam after modifications or reload the settings by double-clicking on the TorchlightCam window.
Here is short explanations of some of the settings and their values:

Minimized
Specifies if the TorchlightCam should start as minimized
Set to "1" to enable and "0" to disable (default value).

StartupMode
Specifies which mode to enable at start
Set to "1" to enable automatic mouse rotation at game startup (default value) and "0" to disable.

SafeZoneWhenToggled
Specifies the area (at center of the screen) in % of screen area that will not detect rotation when using MouseToggle (Caps Lock key) rotation mode.
Default value is 65, meaning that 65% of screen area at center of screen will not detect as rotation.

SafeZoneWhenRotating
Specifies the area (at center of the screen) in % of screen area that will not detect rotation when using MouseRotate (Control key) rotation mode.
Default value is 10, meaning that 10% of screen area at center of screen will not detect as rotation.

InvertMouseRotation
Specifies if the mouse rotation should be inverted
Set to "1" to enable and "0" to disable (default value).

AutoInvertMouse
Specifies if the mouse rotation should be inverted automatically when mouse cursor is below the player character.
This options is handy when you want the rotation tracking to follow the mouse cursor more naturally when walking to the camera direction.
Note: You can use InvertMouseRotation at the same time with this setting.
Set to "1" to enable and "0" to disable (default value).

Running the TorchlightCam:
You can start the TorchlightCam before or after the Torchlight game. TorchlightCam will automatically detect when the Torchlight game is running and activate features. There is no need to close TorchlightCam when restarting Torchlight game. If you have minimized TorchlightCam to the system tray you can right-click the TorchlightCam's icon to select "exit" to close TorchlightCam or double click to make the main window visible again. TorchlightCam includes a small menu that you can activate by right clicking on the TorchlightCam window.

Troubleshooting
Note about Windows Vista and Windows 7 support: If the app doesn't seem to work, try to run the application with administrators rights by right-clicking on the TorchlightCam.exe and selecting "Run as administrator".

If you have any questions about the TorchlightCam please post in this forum. If TorchlightCam doesn't work with your Torchlight game please send me an pm and I will take a look at the problem.

Is there anything about TorchlightCam that specifically requires v1.13 or 1.15?
I'm still running 1.12b... if I have to upgrade to use this I suppose I will, but if you don't think there's anything about the newer versions that's intrinsic to running TLCam then I'll at least give it a shot and see if it's compatible.

TorchlightCam should work with 1.12b too so you can try it out. PM me if it doesn't work and I'll add the support asap.

Okay, tried it out today (using 1.12b).

The "extended" zoom function, from the middle scroll wheel, seems to work.
Though, I did observe that doodads/objects would suddenly start disappearing if I zoomed out any further than a rather moderate distance. (This would be a rather marked change from the "other" TorchCam, which simply let objects fade into the distance fog as opposed to making them "pop" out of existence/turning their visibility off suddenly.)

Aside from that one feature, it doesn't seem to work. The arrow, caps lock, and control keys all do nothing. I tried starting TorchlightCam up both after starting TL and before, just to see if it would make a difference, but no dice. Tried toggling with the Z key too, just to see if the features were starting "off" by default, but it didn't change anything.

Hi:

Doesn't seem to work for me (tried running as an admin as well). I have the version from Direct to Drive (D2D) on Win 7 64 bit . I get "The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect". Am I doing something wrong or is it not comparible?

TIA

Windows 7 problems

Postby Fincodr » Mon Mar 15, 2010 11:32 pm

If you have problems starting TorchlightCam (you get errors like "side-by-side configuration is incorrect" for example, please first install (or reinstall) the latest Microsoft C++ 2008 SP1 redistributable files, see the note:

TorchlightCam needs Microsoft C++ 2008 SP1 dll files to work properly so downloading one of these might help (download x64 for 64bit windows and x86 for 32bit!):
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

Edited: Thanks, darrkzun

Hello!

Great work!

I hope that the error on Win7 you can quickly find, so I / we finally can rotate the view. :)

I also hope it's okay that I created in a German fan forum here a topic about it!?

I run Win7 x64 with no problems.... I've seen the "The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect" error before I believe with Electric Sheep ( a screensaver type of program ). I just (now) googled the error real quick, which is what I did when I encountered this problem before. He needs to uninstall either his 2005 C++ redistributable or 2008 C++ redistributable or both which is what I would just do. Also, I advise you google the error yourself and brush up on whatever you can find about it. But re-installing the redistributables should do the trick. ;)

Ok there seems to be some problems with Windows 7 64bit version. I will make an updated version today that supports windows 7 properly!

First off
------------
Awesome mod Fincodr! This is a huge addition to the game, great work! Running v1.0 on Win7 x64 with no issues. I have a custom Steam install, where Steam (and all Steam games) live in c:\Games\Steam to avoid Admin issues, so that may be why I haven’t seen an issue.

Second [wish list]
-----------------------
- Would there be a way to lower the camera even further behind the character, similar a 3rd person view?
- Would there be a way to toggle ‘follow cam’ mode, so that the camera follows the toon as I move and turn?

The above two items + WASD would make my alchemist a dream to play =)

Thanks again for your hard work!

i get this message whenever I start the torchlightcam.exe program...

"The ordinal 9252 could not be located in the DLL mfc90.dll"

I uninstalled the previous versions of my Visual C++ programs and installed the newer version (as recommended in the installation notes found int he forum thread)...

What else could be the problem?

I'm currently running Windows XP SP2 on my system.

Hoping for a speedy reply...

While I'm not positive on this it's worth a shot. Go here and download the DLL. Unzip it into your "C:\Windows\System32\" folder and try to run the program.

I downloaded the .dll file from the posted link and extracted it into the folder specified. Then I tried to run TorchlightCam.exe again and still it posted the same error message... I'm also trying to google stuff on the problem at hand... thanks for the REALLY speedy reply... I hope more ideas would come soon. :D

No problem kez. Yeah, unfortunately that particular error hasn't shown up in google that I could find. So far the closest to it I could dig up was this one.

I'll keep trying and see if I can find some more on it... it could be that it needs to go into a different folder.

Do you know if you are running x32 or x64 Windows? Also, run Windows Update to see if there are any updates relating to Visual C++ 2008. Might get lucky and it will fix itself ;)
